From Tropea: Half-Day Tour to Pizzo

1. From Tropea: Half-Day Tour to Pizzo

Take a memorable journey along the Coast of Gods from Tropea to the charming town of Pizzo, while enjoying sublime views over the Tyrrhenian sea. Absorb the knowledge of your guide as you explore one of Vibo Valentia's most beautiful areas. Step into the unique Church of Piedigrotta, which is built into the local landscape, giving it its name, meaning 'at the foot of the cave'. Marvel at a stunning collection of stone sculptures. Wind your way through the atmospheric alleyways and characteristic stairwells of Pizzo, as you navigate your way to the grand central square, Piazza della Republica. Jump back into the fifteenth century as you visit Aragon Castle, where the King of Naples was imprisoned and sentenced to death. Spoil yourself among the colorful gelaterias and gorge on the local delicacy, Tartufo (truffle) ice cream.

From Tropea: Day Trip to Serra San Bruno and Pizzo

2. From Tropea: Day Trip to Serra San Bruno and Pizzo

Enjoy a day trip from Tropea, 800 meters above the sea into the peaks of the Serra mountain range. Here you'll find the Carthusian monastery of San Bruno, an oasis of solitude and magic. In the middle of the forest, this place of stillness remains a haven for monks to live in total seclusion. They have taken vows of silence; one hears sounds only when the brothers sing at mass. Become intrigued and enchanted by this forgotten place beyond the hectic world. Head into the forest past the paddocks, through hundred-year-old trees and to a clearing with a fountain: the laghetto di miracoli, a wishing well with holy water, which, according to the Calabrians, will fulfill any wish. Try your luck! Visit the quaint trattoria and try specialties of the region. Don't miss the homemade Fileja, a type of noodle served with mushroom sauce. Regain your strength, then venture further down the coast. The closer you get to the sea, the more lively the area feels. Visit the picturesque coastal town of Pizzo, not only a beautiful old city but the home of the sweetest temptation in Calabria. Tartufo Ice Cream was founded here, and is still freshly made every morning. Enjoy an unforgettable combination of chocolate, nuts, and ice cream before experiencing the cultural high point of the city. See the Chiesetta di Piedigrotta, a fascinating cave church found in a small bay. Admire the holy figures made from stone, the altar, and hear the crashing waves instead of the usual organ music. See Murat Castle, which belonged to Napoleon's brother-in-law, and wander the small alleyways. Stop in to the little boutiques or watch the crowds on the piazza while enjoying espresso.

A lot of useful information. Visited places very nice, lunch good value for money. You can do without Piedigrotta. Not nice: a lot of time was lost to collect tour participants between Capo-Vaticano and Pizzo at almost every hotel. You can organize that better !!!

A nice trip!

PS: Departure time on this excursion was given incorrectly. Instead of 7:30 a.m., 8 a.m. was shown on the ticket. However, the tour operator solved the problem without hesitation by following us with a minibus.
