Vincent was a great guide who is very passionate about volcanology and knowledgeable about the specifics of the island. One must take into consideration that the tour is only available in French. Personally, I would have appreciated if they made it more clear that you won’t see any lava or gas vents because in case of any volcanic activity the hike won’t take place anyways
This hike is one of a kind! You get to climb up to the top of the volcano and see amazing views if the weather allows. In our case the weather was poorly forecasted so we were not lucky in a way that we experienced a lot of foggy rain situation. So we were not able to see the overall views. But even with this situation, i can promise you this experience is still wonderful, as the nature is 100% different than what you’ve seen before. Also, for all future the hikers, PLEASE dress appropriately. Jeans, thin shirts or unsuitable footwear is out of discussion. This hike is not easy and also not hard in normal weather conditions. But if the weather is not friendly, like in our case, dress appropriately or don’t go! Dressing appropriately would include hiking shoes (not the casual sneakers), waterproof clothing (jackets and pants), hat and gloves. We did this in September and we had 6 degrees Celsius up on the volcano, even if at the beach level there were 28-30 degrees with clear sky.
