Take this 1-hour journey back in time and allow your guide to take you below the streets of Seattle. Explore over four city blocks of historic Pioneer Square and wander through three underground passageways originally constructed in the 1890's. Learn the historical details leading to the birth of Seattle as it is knows today, and the decision to raise the city streets out of the swampy grounds. See where retaining walls were added alongside the streets and filled to make new roads several feet above where they originally stood.

Use Uber as your transportation to avoid parking fees. Arrive on time and allow about an hour and a half if you’re driving on from the SW side of town. Get your tickets before hand online. They will have your name and ticket at the receptionist desk. Staff is extremely friendly and guide is well groomed and knowledgeable about the city and it’s humble beginnings. Wear comfortable shoes and be sure and use the restroom before the tour since there is no public restroom near the end of the tour. Overall a cool history class with fun facts about the city and its inhabitants.

It was fascinating and entertaining to learn how Seattle became to be what it is today. Dave did a wonderful job of welcoming us to his town by letting us live the story. I would recommend this tour to all as it truly forms your opinion of the steep hills of Seattle.

Rod was a great guide- knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. I wish he would speak a bit more slowly because he has such great info to share and is trying to squeeze as much as possible into the short tour- your brain has to listen really fast to keep up. Still though, this is a great tour- a good use of an hour.
