Iquitos: Guided Boat Tour of Amazon River & Native Community

Your tour will begin when you set sail from your meeting point at the pier of Iquitos Boulevard, cruising down the three main rivers surrounding the city of Iquitos: Itaya, Amazonas, and Nanay.  Once you’re out on the Amazon, you might see dolphins and red buffaloes swimming around you. You’ll then continue on past the city before stopping to meet the indigenous community of the Kukama, where you’ll have the chance to get to know their dances and customs and to learn about their culture.  After the visit, you’ll take a walk along the shore of the community of Father Cocha and learn about the curious history of its founder. In a nearby location, you’ll visit the Pilpintuwasi, a butterfly farm where you'll learn about the life cycles and breeding habits of these beautiful creatures. When the tour ends, you’ll return by boat to Iquitos Boulevard.

Had the best day! We were sore after climbing 2 mountains in Machu Picchu but our guide tailor made the experience for us to help us get the most out of the day. Pablo was on time, spoke English well, took great photos and was just fun to be around. He made transport easy so all we had to do was show up and enjoy the experience. He gave us options and we got to choose what we wanted to see. Best day ever. Leading up to the day, Andres, the manager was incredibly accommodating and tailor made the tour to suit our needs (despite our plane delay). I loved every part of dealing with this company from the booking to the change of plans to the experience with the guide. They were so willing to make the day work for us with our limited time. Thank you a million times over. We had a ball!!!!!

We really enjoyed the tour and our guide Jose was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the tour initially seemed a bit disorganized and the stay in the village of Kukama is different than shown in the pictures. However, we also had the opportunity to fish for piranhas, which was a very interesting experience. The tour was very interesting and our guide was very good. Unfortunately it wasn't worth the money as you can find much cheaper offers locally. This doesn't give you a real insight into the jungle.

We really loved this trip. José did everything in his power to make sure we were enjoying it. Highlight of our tour was the Butterfly farm, which also serves as a rescue centre for animals who were illegally kept as pets. If you’re looking for a nice, complete introduction to the Amazon, book this tour!

A good trip to see and know more about the jungle local tribes , and animals that live there , with an excitment boat trip in the amazon river

Wonderful tour of the Amazon River and neighboring stream reserve such as animal and lodge
