From Krakow: Rafting on Dunajec River Full-Day Trip

3. From Krakow: Rafting on Dunajec River Full-Day Trip

Take a day trip from Krakow to experience the scenic beauty of the Pieniny mountains and Dunajec River, with hotel transfers included. Follow your instructor's directions and go rafting down 2 riverbeds of the Dunajec and pass by the Velveteen Mountains, the Three Crowns Massif, and Lake Czorsztyn. The Pieniny area of the Dunajec is an extraordinary place that delights with picturesque views and a unique phenomenon. The Dunajec River turns its current 180 degrees in the part of the Gorge, flowing for some time in the opposite direction to the sea, to finally turn back. This type of phenomenon occurs only in one other place in the world. Interestingly, the Pieniny looks completely different in summer than in autumn, when colorful leaves cover the trees growing along the entire route. Rafting on the Dunajec is a great way to get to know the greatest attractions of the Pieniny National Park. Starting from the raftsmen harbor in Kąty, we will see, among others, Marcelowa Góra, which is excluded from sightseeing and no tourist trail leads to it. We will raft through one of the two separate riverbeds of the Dunajec, forming a two-kilometer island in the middle, and we will see the Velveteen Mountains, where the legendary robber Janosik was supposed to hide. Then the river current leads to the pearl of the Pieniny, i.e. The Three Crowns. This is where the Gorge begins, consisting of 7 loops and magnificent, monumental limestone hills stretching along the length, which are even 300 meters high. The view is breathtaking, but you have to see it with your own eyes to understand how amazing it all looks. The current of the river is usually calm, only sometimes it accelerates its course and then slows down again. Special rafts made of five canoes guarantee full safety during both a calm and more exciting voyage when the current increases its speed. An additional attraction of the area is a visit to the Dunajec Castle in Nidzica (lac: Castrum de Dunajecz) – a historic and original stronghold from the 14th century, located right on the rocky shore of the lake.

We booked at the last minute, but Paul made every effort to accommodate us the next day. We were picked up on time by the driver: Tony. A very friendly man who did everything to make us wish. The boat trip was a unique experience. You were pushed by two men in traditional clothing and they told you everything about the nature reserve. It's not nearly as touristy as Zakopane. Really very nice! Tip; bring cash if you want a drink at the starting point. Unfortunately, you can't pin.

Fantastic trip with Mr. Paweł. Very professionally organized. Mr. Paweł picked us up at the address and drove us to the place after finishing. Everything was well organized. They would not have to worry about anything. On the way we learned interesting things about Krakow. Very nice day spent We highly recommend this trip. You can have a great time rafting, admire the views and then relax in the thermal pools. A great trip.

Excellent experience and superb guide. Pawel was extremely nice and caring and always ensuring we were having a good time! Our satisfaction and wellbeing was his top priority and left us without words with his kindness and excellent service. Could not recommend him enough!! Both rafting and thermal baths were really nice and we had a great time.

Really good trip on the river, so nice. The guide did not speak much English, but a really good local experience. The guide who picked us up was incredibly good, knew a lot about the things we saw, spoke perfect English and drove safely and well.

Amazing experience, our driver Pavel really went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic time in a beautiful part of Poland.
