What people are saying about Picton

Excellent, knowledgeable host and driver Mike accommodated our last minute booking and picked us up at the Blenheim Airport at 10am when our flight was delayed and we were unable to reach our hotel pick-up place in time. We were a total of 7 in a comfortable van that could have held squeezed in 5 more. We were pre-booked and expected at Nautilus, Spy Master and Framingham (and sampled 4 wines at each) before stopping for lunch at Allan Scott. Lunch was on our own dime. It was a relaxed pace and the hosts at each winery gave us much information about their wines. No hard sell whatsoever. We were 3 couples and a single guy, and got to know each other superficially as you do when fate throws you together on a tour like this. I enjoyed the 6-1/2 hr day and loved eating grapes off the vines, as we were allowed to do. IMHO, the best grapes were far and away the sauvignon blanc at Cloudy Bay, which I walked over to while waiting for lunch to be prepared. Bravo Jade and Mike!

The skipper mailman Jason was an outstanding local guide with a passionate knowledge of the Sounds. He made it really interesting and went out of his way to find and share wildlife with us. Hectors dolphins, furseals and king shags. He also pointed out the destruction the pine forests are having on the beautiful native bush.

Our guide at the boat shared a lot of information on Maori culture and history as well as the nature. The track was really beautiful. I was walking mostly alone, only meeting others occasionally.

Was a beautiful trip, lovely picnic lunch. The drive did take less than 4 hrs to get there from Queenstown though, they told us in email definitely allow 5.

Very fine self guided walk along Queen Charlotte track.
