Naples: Day Trip to Pompeii and Capri

Naples: Day Trip to Pompeii and Capri

Enjoy a tour of contrasts on a combined 8-hour day trip from Naples to Pompeii and Capri. Stroll around the ruins of a former city of the Roman Empire, and then join the jet set on a glittering jewel of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Following a pick-up from your hotel in Naples (main hotels only), or from the Cruise Terminal or Napoli Centrale train station, drive to Pompeii, approximately 25 minutes along the highway. Return to Naples and climb aboard a hydrofoil for a 45-minute sea crossing to the island of Capri. Here, your guide will take you to the funicular that leads uphill through lemon groves from Marina Grande to the Piazzetta. Enjoy some free time to shop, and stop for a coffee at the Gran Caffè Vuotto. Wander the narrow streets to find boutique fashion stores and local craft shops. Enjoy panoramic views from the belvedere of the Gardens of Augustus. Look across at sights such as Via Krupp, Mount Solaro, the Bay of Marina Piccola, and the Faraglioni sea stacks of Capri. Return to the funicular to board the hydrofoil back to the port of Naples. From the port, cruise passengers can walk back to their cruise ship, while hotel guests will be transferred by minivan to their hotels. The itinerary within the Pompeii excavations may vary from day to day depending on the opening of certain offices and the influx of visitors. The visit guarantees the exploration of one building from each category: 1 Temple, 1 Market, 1 ancient shop, 1 Villa, 1 Thermal bath, 1 Theater, and the Forum. The selection of visited buildings is determined each time by the guide based on the number of visitors, waiting times, and their opening hours. The tour includes a visit to a Cameo factory. Cameos are typical jewels from the Roman era, discovered during the excavations of Herculaneum and Pompeii in 1748. At the factory, you can observe a craftsman at work. Cameos are jewels crafted from shells and gemstones, and they are hand-carved by the artisan. Visiting the factory will allow you to use the restrooms for free before entering the excavations. Therefore, stopping at the Cameo factory is not only informative but also essential in terms of managing the visit to the Pompeii excavations. The tour in the chosen language is considered confirmed with a minimum of 6 participants. If the minimum number is not reached, there will be the option to choose either an audio-guided tour in the selected language or a guided tour in English.

Alberto was an amazing guide and made the day very special. Capri was very busy and chaotic with so many tourists, and I’m so glad we booked this tour to help us explore it in 1 day!! The Blue Grotto was an adventure. Recommend you wear sensible footwear and clothes you can easily move in as you have to get in a small row boat and lie down in it to get into the gotto! Also be prepared to get a little bit wet! The chairlift experience was also great, as well as the boat trip to other parts of the Island. It was a bit of a rush for lunch at the recommended restaurant in AnaCapri (which was delicious!) so that in mind if you are doing the chairlift experience! Also bring change (and extra tissues!) in order to use the public bathrooms / buy water at cafes to use theirs. Overall a memorable and fabulous day. Alberto has the voice of an Angel and even treated us to some fantastic singing. Thanks Alberto!

This tour is great for a day trip to Capri! They handled all transport around the island and our guide beelined us right to the chairlift so there was almost no wait. When we finished the wait was probably over an hour. Every tour guide was exceptional and navigated us flawlessly, recommended us a great lunch spot, and we super pleasant. Blue Grotto was closed (it has been a lot lately due to rough waters) but the replacement boat tour around the island was just as fun if not a little better since you get to see more of the island! I would highly recommend this tour, everything was very well organized and took the guess work of figuring out logistics too!

We truly enjoyed our tour of beautiful Capri! It was a day we will always remember! The best part was our guide Domenico. It must be hard to wrangle a large group on such a busy day but he did it beautifully and without stress. We would never have been able to do and see all we did without his expertise. And he spoke in 3 languages during the tour with ease! The private boat tour was the icing on the cake. Highly recommend this tour with Domenico!!

Michele was amazing and made sure we made the most of our time on the island. A brilliant day!

Loved that the capt was extremely friendly and gave us many suggestions.
