Amalfi & Atrani: 2-Hour Private Walking Tour

Amalfi & Atrani: 2-Hour Private Walking Tour

Let yourself be enchanted by a 2-hour guided tour starting from the historic center of Amalfi to Atrani experiencing the colors, the typical tastes and the millenary history of the Amalfi Coast. Amalfi was the capital of an ancient maritime republic. Its historic center is justly considered an outdoor museum and preserves, almost intact, the architectural and urban drug of its past. Towers, walls, vaulted houses, ancient churches, chapels and convents, testify, with its rich medieval mercantile houses of the aristocracy, the historical past of Amalfi.  Reach the Flavio Gioia Square of Amalfi, with the statue in marble of the inventor of the compass, where your tour will start. View the Arsenale and visit the big and graceful historic center with an overwhelmingly beautiful St. Andrew's Cathedral (or Duomo) in the Arab-Sicilian style dedicated to Saint Andrew, the apostle and a patron saint of Amalfi whose relics are kept here. Visit the Fountain of Sant'Andrea with marble sculptures of Saint Andrea and marine gods carved in the 18th century. View the narrow medieval alleys densely sorrounded by souvenir shops and limoncello.  Continue your tour walking up to the characteristic Atrani. Stop for a panoramic view at the cemetery of the ancient monastery of San Lorenzo. Arrive to Piazza Atrani and visit Chiesa di San Salvatore de’ Birecto. End your visit with a 5 minute walk to return on foot downtown to Amalfi.

We had the most amazing day with our guide Mauro. We were collected from our accommodation and whisked away to some of the most beautiful places in Italy, Sorrento, postiano and almafiI,. Mauro"s presence added a whole new level of appeal to areas that are already stunning, his knowledge, humour and kind and caring nature made the day extra special. His recommendation for a lunch stop at 'Costa Diva' was the kind of place dreams are made of, breath taking scenery, good food and an ambience made by wonderful owners/staff. I could write so much about this wonderful tour experience but I think if your looking just book and go you will not be dissapointed. 'Mauro siamo venuti da visitatori e partiamo da amici un grazie non mi sembra abbastanza'. Sally and Katie

Antonio was our driver. Very polite, an excellent driver, understood English but not a conversationalist. Have to agree with others that he was more a taxi driver than a guide. He was on time, car was immaculate, took us to a wonderful restaurant for lunch, and allowed us a little leeway on time when asked. If you want to extend time at a location, its better to ask before being dropped off as drivers cannot park and wait for long before Police come around and make them leave. A bit pricey (we had 5 people) but we saw more in one day than we would have on our own. Recommended for the drop-off/pick-up locations, as parking a rental would have been difficult and involve a lot of walking. Know that driving is half of the tour time.

Excellent guide! Very friendly, Ravello and Positano are beautiful and in truth the time they give us is necessary to get an idea of the Place! However, I asked for the tour in Spanish and the guide did not know, so my parents did not understand many things. But the driver was a love!
