Founded as an Etruscan settlement, by 1100 Siena had become a powerful city-state, thanks to its strong military, and thriving banking and trading industries. Your walk begins in Siena's famous 13th-century Piazza del Campo, the stunning main square, where the famous Palio horse race is still held bi-annually during the summer. Here, I’ll outline the city's rich history while sharing anecdotes and pointing out the square’s main attractions including the Palazzo Pubblico, Siena’s Town Hall, with its majestic bell tower. From there, you'll wind your way through the old city, making a brief stop outside the oldest bank headquarters in the world, the Monte dei Paschi di Siena bank, founded in 1472. We had a wonderful day trip from Florence to San Gimignano, Pisa, and Lucca with our tour guides, Alice and driver Maximo. They were very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They told us interesting facts and stories about the places we visited, and the history and culture of Florence and Tuscany. They also gave us enough time to explore and enjoy each destination. The drive was smooth and comfortable, and the scenery was beautiful. It rained but it was amazing. We saw the stunning medieval towers, the iconic leaning tower, and the charming walled city. Each place had its own charm. Alice was very attentive, responsive and flexible. They communicated with us via WhatsApp before and made sure we had everything we needed. They also gave us some great tips and recommendations for Florence. We highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see some of the most beautiful and historic places in Tuscany. Thank you, Alice and Maximo, for making our trip unforgettable

What an incredible day!! I'm not a morning person so I was slightly nervous to get up so early for this, but wow it was so worth it. The sun rising over the Tuscan hills was breathtaking and then on top of that we managed to see 4 other places in Tuscany - San Gimignano, Lucca, and Pisa. Because we got there so early, we actually managed to beat the crowds which I hadn't even thought about. Just a great overall experience - no complaints! Everything was organized and on time! Perfect day! Thanks Tourist Italy.
