Full description
Your day begins at 11 AM in the morning at your hotel in Phuket or Phang Nga, where you will be met by your English speaking guide to depart for the elephant sanctuary. Upon arrival at the Elephant Care Park, you will be given a traditional Mahout uniform to wear, before receiving an introductory training session on the basics of the park and elephant care. Once you've completed your training, you will get to meet the elephants. Learn all about this magnificent animal, their behaviours and history. Help the keepers prepare special food for the elephants and then feed them. Spend some one-on-one time with the gentle giants, before sitting down to enjoy your own lunch. Enjoy a traditional Thai food lunch, accompanied by fresh fruit, tea and coffee. After resting up, take the elephants for a mud spa, which cools them down and protects them from parasites. End this amazing experience by bathing the elephants in the river and cleaning the mud off of them. Take another tea or coffee break before heading back to your hotel at the end of the day at 3:30 PM.

Know before you go

  • It is important to note that this is an entirely cruelty-free experience with absolutely no riding of elephants
  • Please bring your camera, sunglasses and sun lotion
  • Please remember to bring any personal medication you may need
  • A change of clothes is recommended as you may get wet while bathing the elephants
  • Mahouts are not allowed to use hooks to direct elephants at this sanctuary and are only allowed to guide them by their ears. This does not hurt the elephants.
  • Please note that the activity starts at 11AM.

We had a wonderful time with the elephants, they were very gentle and lovely creatures. The forest we were in was beautiful too. The lunch we were served was nice and the waterfall was pretty. I would recommend bringing insect repellant and shoes suitable for water activities. Also, we didn't realise the drive was 1hr 45mins away from our hotel (we stayed in Surin) so make sure to bring some entertainment

A really great experience. Our 35-year-old female elephant was instructed by her keeper using only words in different voices and touch. Our guide explained a lot to us and answered all our questions. He took around 150 photos and sent them to us via WhatsApp in the evening. Be sure to come straight away in your bathing suit. When grooming, you stand in water up to the middle of your body. Lunch was very tasty and more than enough. We were a small group of 2 couples, which meant we had plenty of time to bathe with the elephant. The only negative surprise was that we didn't get any information about the pickup time in the morning and were then picked up an hour earlier than stated in the general tour description.

you should know that the location of the activity is 2 hours 45 minutes from Karin/kata beach, it is a long journey, we were picked up at 8 a.m. to arrive at the camp at 10:50 a.m., start the activity at 11:50 a.m. and finish it at 12:50 p.m. It actually only lasted an hour with the elephants. no mistreatment the elephant comes by itself into the forest, however it is not a sanctuary as indicated. we then spent 30 minutes at the waterfall in the afternoon before leaving at 3:30 p.m. in the van.
