Not far from Phoenix, the Apache Trail is a true wilderness adventure and offers a perfect day in the Sonoran desert. Visit Canyon Lake, the ghost town of Goldfield, and the mysterious Superstition Mountain Wilderness.
What to Expect
Enjoy the scenic drive down Arizona's first designated "Historic Highway" and scenic byway. This breathtaking road got its start as an Indian route and eventually became the supply route for one of the first reclamation projects in the U.S. It is now a system of four desert lakes, the largest being formed by Roosevelt Dam at the end of the trail. Travel in a 9 or 13-seat vehicle on this small group tour and enjoy a more personalized experience.
This 8 hour tour showcases Canyon Lake, where you'll enjoy a 90 minute Dolly Steamboat Cruise. Next, hold on to your hat as you slowly wind up (or down) Fish Creek hill for a casual, guided walk and an unforgettable view of the Superstition Mountain Wilderness. Then, it's on to colorful Tortilla Flat and the ghost town of Goldfield where you’ll get picture perfect glimpses into Arizona's rambunctious past.
