Experience everyday life on the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers on a 7-hour sightseeing tour from Phnom Penh. Visit floating villages, cruise through flooded forests, and enjoy lunch on Silk Island, where you will also learn about traditional silk weaving.
What to Expect
Climb aboard the Mekong Tara Prince for a full-day cruise of the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers, with round-trip transfers from Phnom Penh. Enjoy a life of luxury aboard a boat formerly owned by the Prince of Cambodia.
Sail north along the Tonle Sap River, passing floating villages, fishing boats, stilt homes, and a large village of the indigenous Cham people. Continue until the Tonle Sap meets the Mekong River. Cruise past more floating villages, and see water buffalo grazing by the water. Pass an island where boats are taken for their dry dock repairs.
Next, visit Silk Island. Thanks to the unique double haul and low draft of the Mekong Tara Prince, you can get up-close-and-personal to some of the best waterways in Cambodia. Dock at Silk Island for an authentic Khmer lunch with drinks on a floating raft.
Explore Silk Island by horse drawn or ox cart. Watch the locals weaving the silk according to ancient traditions. Try your hand at some silk weaving, and purchase traditional hand-woven silk products at wholesale prices. Return to the boat for a circuit of the island, before heading back along the Mekong River and along the riverside docks into Phnom Penh.
