Full description
Your Euro-Khmer guide will pick you up from Phnom Penh and drive you to the killing fields of Choeung Ek – 15 km south of Phnom Penh. The infamous killing fields have a bloody history. Once an orchard and a Chinese cemetery, the Khmer Rogue, lead by Pol Pot, turned the place into what became known as the killing fields. Over four years they massacred and buried 2.5 million people. After remembering the dead, return to Phnom Penh to visit Tuol Sleng Prison. Meaning hill of the poisonous trees, Pol Pot turned a once popular high school into a high security prison. 20,000 people were imprisoned there, many of whom were tortured for information. Today it serves as a museum and a reminder of darker days. Your Euro-Khmer guide will return you to your hotel or guesthouse in the early evening.

The organisation of the tour was excellent - the confirmation of the booking was instant and the day before there were further confirmations from the local partner to re-assure that our pick was booked. We were picked up bang on time - the tour guide and driver were fantastic and we can not recommend this tour highly enough

Our tour was with T - what a gentleman. He was himself a victim of the regime and his tour was thorough, informative, insightful and of course, at times, emotional. He has perfect English and we learnt so much from him in a relatively short time. We even got to hear about the elections that are currently taking place around Cambodia as we were caught up in a propaganda rally. The driver was also charming and when we returned to the car supplied very welcome cold water. The killing field and the museum are of course emotionally draining but it’s important to get an insight into the country and its history and this is a perfect way to do that. We can’t thank T enough for sharing the history and his memories with us. Thank you again John & Karen

Very knowledgeable & informative guide. Essential to visit here.

The killing fields and genocide museum is a very emotional and confronting tour. Leaves you feeling helpless. An amazing testament to the resilience and strength of the Cambodian people. So sad. Even though we had a local guide I would have liked option of an audio tour of the two locations.
