A major figure in American history, Benjamin Franklin was well-known as an inventor, scientist, businessman, politician, philosopher, and patron. Learn about Benjamin Franklin and his unique relationship with the city of Philadelphia during this half-day walking tour and seminar.

With a local historian serving as guide, we will focus on Franklin's work as an inventor and manager, as well as the role he played in the American Revolution, international diplomacy, and the Continental Congress.

We will visit sites relevant to the life of Benjamin Franklin, such as the post office at Franklin Court, Christ Church, and the American Philosophical Society. You will have the chance to discuss and understand the great changes, as well as the social and political upheaval that took place in Philadelphia during the last half of the 18th century.

Meeting Point

This tour is held on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 2:00 PM. Tours depart from the Elfreth Alley Museum, located at 124 Elfreth's Alley. The alley is located off of 2nd Street between Arch Street and Cherry Street.

What to Remember
This is a private tour. The price is per party. You pay a flat fee, and may bring up to five more people.

No tours are held on New Year's Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Context walks can be canceled up to 48 hours prior to the walk with an 85% refund. Within 48 hours all reservations are final and cannot be refunded.
