Upon a recommendation from a member in my book club I got tickets for myself and friends to "hop off" at the Eastern State Penitentiary. The outside dilapidated walls set us up for a hauntingly poignant step back in time to an unsuccessful attempt to solicit penitence. The audio and visual aids send you on an insightful journey through our penal system. I would strongly encourage anyone visiting Philadelphia to experience this incredible piece of history. I will have these images forever.
Very interesting museum, especially if you are a history buff like me. The tent reveal was cool, if a little overblown. Well worth a few hours.
Interesting history with some thoughtful, progressive exhibits. Took my 12-year old son and it prompted some good public policy conversations.
It was amazing. Brought us both to tears and reminded us of what true Presidential Leadership really means. A must visit in Philadelphia
it's always interesting to see how the prisons were in the past. Not a good place to stay overnight.
