You will leave the hotel early in the morning to drive south to the Nabatean Red Rose City of Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, for a classic visit. As you travel, gaze at the desert landscapes and hear tales of Jordan’s history. Hewn into a sandstone valley carved by the Nabataean people more than 2,000 years ago, this ancient rose-red rock city located 245 kilometers from Amman at the crossroads of age-old trading routes, to dominate ancient Arabia. First, walk through the famous “Siq”, a narrow path of 1.2 kilometers; rock fissure that was once the main entrance to the city, and marvel at your first glimpse of the hauntingly beautiful Treasury “Al - Khazneh” as the canyon suddenly opens up. Then, proceed through the widening canyon to witness other monuments such as the 3,000-seater Theater, the Royal Tombs, and the Byzantine Church. After around two hours of exploring, enjoy free time. If time permits you can climb up the Monastery on your own or the High Place of Sacrifice: a clifftop altar that was once used for animal sacrifices and other ceremonies. Free time to visit The Petra Museum; if there is time, then rejoin your vehicle and driver. Pass by Little Petra, a small rocky valley with carvings, that archaeologists believe acted as the Nabatean’s caravan before heading to the main city and as an accommodation stop for the traders who traveled through the city. Then, journey back to Amman, where your day trip ends with a hotel drop off.

Your driver will pick you up from your hotel or the port in Aqaba . Then we will drive towards the rose red city of Petra, the biggest attraction of Jordan. Petra was first established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs, a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and laid the foundations of a commercial empire that extended into Syria. Upon arrival you will begin the trip from the Visitors Center by foot through Djenni Tombs, and then continue through the canyon called Siq. Finally, you will open your eyes on the most beautiful monument: The Treasury, which is called in Arabic Khazneh. Among other monuments you will see the Street of Facades, the Royal Tombs, the Roman ruins and the Qasr El-Bint. After the classical trail your tour guide will give you free time to discover the other parts of Petra by your own. In case you would like to visit the Monastery you will follow 970 stairs to get there by your own. After completing your visit in Petra, the driver will be waiting for you in the visitors center to bring you to the local restaurant for lunch. You will continue your day by enjoying the Little Petra visit for 1 hour. In the late afternoon, we will drive you back to your hotel in Aqaba.
