Monterey: Scenic Half-Day Self-Guided Electric Scooter Tour

1. Monterey: Scenic Half-Day Self-Guided Electric Scooter Tour

The experience begins with check-in at the local partner’s office in Monterey and a short video and demonstration on how to use the electric scooters safety. Once you’re kitted out with your riding gear, hop onboard and set out onto the streets of Monterey where adventure awaits. The tour allows you the flexibility to follow the route on the app or explore the area according to your interests, taking any detour that looks appealing to you. On your scooter, follow the GPS driven app on your phone to a selection of different locations. The tour starts on Wave Streets, traveling towards San Carlos Beach and onto Breakwater Cove Marina where sea otters and sea lions are frequently seen frolicking among the jetties and the kelp forest tops. Stop by Hopkins Marine Sanctuary next, which is home to harbor seals soaking up the sun on the beach or nesting their young. Continue the tour to Lover’s Point, followed by Perkins Park, then see the great tide-pools that dot the shoreline and offer epic scenic views. Soak up the tranquility at Asilomar Beach, then head to the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary where you can admire clusters of butterflies in the pine trees above. At the end of an unforgettable day of exploring, return the scooter to the starting point.

Monterey Peninsula Drive: A Self-Guided Audio Tour

2. Monterey Peninsula Drive: A Self-Guided Audio Tour

Set off on one of the most beautiful drives in the world, where I’ll share captivating stories about how the quaint town of Pacific Grove grew into a thriving city nicknamed Chautauqua by the Sea. Pacific Grove is often overlooked in favor of its neighbors but, on this driving tour, I’ll tell you how it came to be known as the Cultural Center of the West, with thousands of people swarming to the town via the Southern Pacific Railroad every week to experience the Methodist Church's Chautauqua. The Chautauqua Movement's range of music, drama, lectures and activities geared towards adult education and entertainment would forever change the face of Pacific Grove. I’ll show you where famous orators like William Jennings Bryan delivered speeches to gathering crowds, and U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt called Chautauqua “the most American thing in America”. On this driving tour, you’ll cruise along Ocean View Boulevard and Sunset Drive, soaking up stunning views, before heading into Downtown. Along the way, you’ll hear Monterey Peninsula’s rich history starting with Native Americans, Chinese families, Italian fishermen, Spanish settlers and, finally, American families in the early 1900s. I’ll also show you the city’s stunning architecture and some of its over 700 historically listed buildings.

Had a great time. Aliah my 18 year old was a little nervous so after a short ride she switched out for an electric bike. Thanks for all the help and making our day special.

Scooters were in great condition. Staff were friendly, patient and so very helpful!
