From tropea: tour of Reggio Calabria, Scilla & Pentedattilo

Reggio Calabria: The city of Reggio Calabria is one of the oldest in Calabria, having been founded at the beginning of the Greek colonization with the name of Reghion. Once in Reggio Calabria, you will have the chance to visit the National Museum, which houses the famous Riace Bronzes. You can also take a walk along the “most beautiful kilometer in Italy” and maybe go shopping among its many shops. Scilla: Scilla, a place where the myth still seems to live. From the top of the Castello dei Ruffo di Calabria, you will overlook the Costa Viola and the splendid Marina Grande beach. The picturesque fishermen’s quarter (“Chianalea”) and the colors of the village blend with those of the sea, delivering a magical atmosphere. Pentedattilo: Less than 30 km south from Reggio, Pentedattilo rises well in sight, perched on a rock that seems to raise five fingers of a giant hand to the sky (hence the name “Pentedattilo” = “five fingers” in Greek). Its characteristic stone houses are surrounded by prickly pears (fichi d’india), and the town is home to numerous craftsmen who work with wood, glass and ceramics.
