Rockingham: Seal and Penguin Islands Sea Kayak Day Tour

Rockingham: Seal and Penguin Islands Sea Kayak Day Tour

ITINERARY: After a 45 minute drive south from Perth to Shoalwater Marine Park (a beautiful bay with several limestone islands), we introduce people to each other and the equipment. We use easy to paddle double kayaks with waterproof compartments. Our first paddle is to Seal Island, a distance of approximately 1 kilometre, where we look at Australian Sea Lions. Under the conditions usually experienced (light easterly breeze) this section will take about 15 minutes. Next we paddle approximately 2 kilometres (about 30 minute paddle) to Penguin Island where we land for a guided nature walk before sitting down to enjoy an excellent picnic lunch. After this, people can fall asleep under a tree or in the sun, snorkel, swim, do some more kayaking, or go exploring the coast and caves of the island. We usually take people on a nature walk around the island to discover the many and varied shellfish, starfish, crabs, sea birds (including a Pelican Colony), lizards, dolphins and some great views of the bay. Around 2:30pm we muster for the return to Australia, often rafting the boats up and sailing back if the winds are right. This is a distance of approximately 2.5 kilometres. After packing the gear and changing into dry clothes (there is a toilet block at the start/finish point) we drive back to Perth, arriving approx 4.30pm.

What a great excursion to Penguin Island. Everything was well organised, all information and supplies were received clearly and on time. Island and Shoalwater Marine Park are beautiful! Guided walk was interesting and we saw a number of penguins ourselves, although the numbers have decreased drastically. Also saw the (many) pelicans and sea lions, unfortunately no dolphins. Snorkeling is also fantastic and the sea water temperature is nice. Definitely recommended!

Special, was an experience never to forget. Tour guide was excellent and informative kind and polite and the captain of the boat was very experienced. Seen some things like sea lions up close and personal which is something we never thought we could do. The day was memorable and very exciting.

it was amazing, wildlife is amazing, it was difficult to see the dolphins but it was perfect anyways, it's the nature 😊

Everything was good! All crews were friendly and the food they served was good as well

We could see both wild dolphins and penguins with helpful guide tour.
