Full description
Start your journey in the historical enclave of Little India, where migrants from the sub-continent labored to build George Town brick by brick. Explore the points of history that lead to the founding of the city as well as its modern socio-political paradigm. Try different dishes and snacks that have traveled from other parts of the world to find a home in Little India, just like the people who make them. Follow the passage of time as it winds down the streets and walkways, and see how George Town slowly took shape. Whether you choose a private or small group hop, you can interact with your host, ask questions and find out more about things that pique your curiosity. You'll enjoy food from various communities, in parts of George Town that grew more recently. From Chinese Teochew dishes that retain a strong sense of identity to new recipes that could only have been developed in Malaysia, you'll learn about the various cultures that make up the fabric of the city and how their food has become a part of who we are.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our food and history tour. It was a highlight of our week in Penang. Danny is a fantastic guide, he is both knowledgeable and passionate about the unique history and food of George Town. He is a masterful storyteller, and gives you enough of a flavour to understand the colourful past that makes George Town what it is today. He also very much knows his stuff when it comes to good food. We did this tour on our 5th night there, and learnt so much more about the city and it’s culinary delights than we could ever have discovered on our own. The tour is a good balance of eating and history, with some walking around in between to ease digestion (which is very much needed!). Danny caters to the group to make sure everyone is well fed and any dietary requirements carefully met. Finally, but not least - the food is incredible. So yummy. We tried everything and it was all delicious. The cuisine is varied and you stop at both street hawkers and restaurants.

The guide Danny told us about Georgetown and the food in town. Guided us and we tried different dishes in different places. A really nice way to learn more about the local food and Danny was very good and interesting to listen to.
