Full description
Experience a traditional piece of Chinese culture with a ticket to the Peking Opera at one of the best theaters in Beijing. Dating back to the 18th century, the art form combines music, vocal performance, mime, dance and acrobatics and became recognized in the West thanks to the award-winning movie, Farewell My Concubine. Gaze in wonder at the elaborate costumes and marvel as the performers use speech, song, dance and combat in movements that are symbolic and suggestive, rather than realistic.  The Liyuan Theater has performed traditional Peking Opera since 1990 and is one of the leading opera venues in China. It offers English subtitles on lateral screens so that you can follow the plot at all times. Arrive 30 minutes before the show starts and you will get the chance to see the performers getting their make-up ready in the dressing room!

I really enjoyed it, the Chinese opera covers a wide range

I really enjoyed the evening, the Chinese opera encompasses a wide range of performing arts. On the show, these different aspects were shown in different unrelated scenes. The transfer service worked great, it was a nice clean car, the guide and the driver very nice! Unfortunately, the written translation on the screen was sometimes too fast, you couldn't read it at this rate!

Definitely a must for Beijing tourists who wants to see Chinese culture. The theatre standard suits quite well to Chinese ones, don’t expect too much about it and you‘ll not get disappointed. Ticket pick up was very easy.

Bad story, bad acting, bad singing (caution: I'm not an expert)

- The map link leads to different places depending which map app is used - Didn't like the opera, actually got headache from it. Went to a different theatre in Taipei before, which I liked a lot better.
