Full description
On the morning of your visit, you will be picked up from your accommodation in Pattaya and will be driven for approximately 45 minutes through scenic agricultural areas before arriving at the Sanctuary. There, you will meet your English-speaking guide and learn a little about the elephants. After being handed bananas and sugar cane to feed to the elephants, walk with your guide through the sanctuary, discovering free-roaming elephants in a safe, sustainable and ethical environment, and hearing their individual stories. You can touch, feed, photograph, and interact with the elephants at your leisure while you learn about their lifestyle and behaviors. After you have met all the elephants, accompany them to a nearby mud spa. Get muddy with the elephants as you apply a healthy cosmetic mud treatment to their skin. Next, walk with the elephants to a nearby river and join them in the water for a refreshing bath. Take a swim and help bathe and brush the elephants while they wade through and play in the water. Once the elephants are clean, you can take some final photos with them, and then it will be time to part ways with your new friend and change into some dry clothes. Finally, enjoy eating some snacks and seasonal fresh fruits. End your journey with a hotel drop-off at your place in Pattaya.

Despite no prior communication prior to the tour, the pick up was on time. The vehicle was well maintained and air conditioned, which is important as the sanctuary is quite a distance away. The tour at the sanctuary was as described, starting with some education about the elephants, then feeding and finally bathing with them. Was able to interact up close with the elephants and the experience was unparalleled. Remember to bring fresh clothes and the bathing is not recommended for those squeamish about hygiene. Even so, after befriending these gentle giants you might just decide to go with the flow. Highly recommended as a family activity!

A BIG HEADS UP … DON’T pay the extra money for the 6 hour tour. Get Your Guide is misleading by advertising a 4 hour and a 6 hour tour. YOU DON’T GET AN EXTRA 2 hours with the elephants. The extra money that you pay for the 6 hours, doesn’t even go to the Elephant Sanctuary, and they are who does the pickups and drop offs for you. SO, save yourself the extra money by just booking the regular (communal) ride. I took 1 Star off of the rating because of this. When I spoke to a rep of Get Your Guide, prior to my pickup, the guy didn’t seem to care that they are taking extra money by saying it was a 6 hour event. He argued that each tour is a set amount of time, period! JUST BEWARE … This was my first experience with this tour company, so IF I book through them again, I’ll contact them BEFORE paying and booking. The Sanctuary itself..5 Stars! IT WAS A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE, with incredibly knowledgeable, humorous, and fun staff. Delicious meal as well!! Loved the elephants!! Memorable!

This was a little once in a lifetime opportunity for me. Not only do you get exactly what is advertised and more, you can also tell the elephants are well taken care of and never forced to participate/perform. We got to feed them, take them to a mud bath, and wash them after. There was a person available and always willing to take your photo either on your phone or with a sanctuary camera with a link to find the photos online later. Then we had an authentic Thai meal and were shown how to make paper from elephant waste. A truly wonderful experience that felt so authentic.
