If you like the adventure and want to have some unforgettable time, you cannot miss this family excursion with incredible landscapes!
What to Expect
You will be picked up from your accommodation and head in the north direction to the city of Junín de los Andes, which you will stop at briefly for coffee and souvenirs. Then you'll head west, towards the Volcano Lanin with a forest landscape and steppe. An hour later, you'll come to the Lake Huechulafquen, the biggest lake of the National Park Lanin, where you'll get off and see the source of the river Chimehuin.
This area is famous for trout fishing. After the obligatory photos, the combi will continue for approximately 15 minutes up to the starting point of the rafing. You will receive safety equipment: oar, life jacket, wetsuit, helmet, etc. After a basic safety chat, you'll sit in the raft and join the principal flow of the river. The descent will take more than 1.5 hours through The Fast Sauce, the Mouth of the Wolf, The Pozón Widows, The Wall of Wind, Horseshoe, and other nooks channel of the river, all of which will amaze you. The river flow depends on melting and summer temperatures. During October you'll find waves exceeding two meters. However, when the river goes down in the months of January and February, the water level decreases, which adds steps, labyrinths of stones and holes. In the summer, the water temperature rises considerably, so you can fully enjoy the river. You'll also see occasional wildlife, like ducks, vultures, condors, martin pescador, deer and more. After all this, it's time for the return journey back to your accommodation.
