Parque Lage, Rio de Janeiro

After pickup head straight to the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro, the oldest such garden in Brazil. The gardens were founded in 1808, around the same time that the Portuguese Royal Family arrived in Brazil. Dom João VI, then a prince, wanted to see if Caribbean spices would adapt to Rio’s climate. Start with a visit to the Environment Museum before walking around the grounds and admiring the native vegetation. Enjoy the beauty of Frei Leandro Lake and victoria amazonica, a species of flowering plant and the largest of the Nymphaeaceae family of water lilies from the Amazon Rainforest. Admire the orchids and the bromeliads collections. Learn about 19th-century Brazilian history from your guide as you stroll amongst the buildings in the garden. Marvel at the beauty of Musas Fountain and explore Pedro Cachimbo rose garden. Take photos between palm trees and make a stop at the Japanese Garden, created in 1935 from the donation of 65 species of typical Japanese plants. We will start our tour before the sunrise in the true local experience, where we will have the opportunity to be a carioca (resident of Rio de Janeiro) for a day! In this completely unique itinerary, the goal is to avoid peak hrs, watch the most beautiful sunrise in the city, and arrive at Christ the Redeemer during the early hrs, with the possibility of capturing incredible photos. After exploring the Christ the Redeemer Monument, we will descend the historic streets of Santa Teresa towards the Selarón Steps to appreciate the convergence of diverse cultures in one place. After that, we will conclude our experience at the charming Parque Lage, which features a mansion in the middle of a forest full of nature, and optionally enjoy a brunch.

Discover the UNESCO-listed Tijuca National Rainforest and the famous Christ the Redeemer statue. The hike will start at Lage Park at the base of Corcovado Mountain, a park covered with Atlantic Rainforest, with a beautiful and imponent old mansion and many century-old palm trees. The trail is around 2hs, and crosses the preserved Atlantic forest of the Tijuca National Park to one of the most beautiful views of the city from the top of the mountain! We will hike one of the most famous mountains in the world, Corcovado, and find one of the 7 man-made wonders. This carioca postcard that by itself would already put Rio de Janeiro under international attention. The view up there is 360 degrees, and you can admire all of Rio de Janeiro. During this tour, you will also know Tijuca forest and the historical park Lage. Our guides are very knowledgeable about the history of the Christ statue and all the surrounding area, so not only will you get some good exercise, but you will also learn a lot about Rio de Janeiro and Brasil history overall. Also about the many things you can do around the city. It will definitely be an unforgettable day.

Following a pickup from your hotel, the eco-tour will first explore one of the world's largest urban forests, Tijuca Forest. Stop to visit some important points of interest such as the Taunay Waterfall, Tijuca National Park Visitor Center, and the Chinese Lookout. If you wish, you can take a short walk through the Atlantic Forest as well. Next up, you'll go to Jardim Botânico, the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, one of the most important botanical research centers in the world. At this attraction you can visit important points such as the Orchid Garden, Pestle House, the Sensory Garden, the Central Fountain, and the other fascinating diversity of Brazilian and foreign flora. Finally, you’ll go to Parque Lage to take the photographs of one of the most charming mansions in Rio set to the backdrop of Christ the Redeemer. The mansion is also equipped with a coffee bar, bistro, and art exhibitions.

Explore Rio's most iconic places with your own personal photographer and professional guide and take home a digital album in high resolution to last as a memory forever of this great day! After pick up, we will head off to Christ the Redeemer as it just opens to avoid the big crows and shoot some great pictures. We will also do a stop half way the Corcovado Mountains, at the Dona Marta Outlook, where you will see incredible views of the city. We will then visit the world famous stairs, the Selaron Steps and the city's Metropolitan Cathedral. At last, but not least, we will head off to the Sugarloaf Mountain, where we will take the cable cars up the mountain and enjoy Rio's views from a different angle. The Christ the Redeemer statue stands on Corcovado Mountain, 2,330 feet above Rio de Janeiro. Located at the beginning of the Tijuca Forest National Park, the statue is without a doubt Brazil’s most famous landmark. Your 6-hour activity begins at Parque Lage, a green space that features Atlantic rainforest, a lovely old mansion and many century-old palm trees. The uphill hike will take around 2 hours 30 minutes, and when you reach the top you’ll be rewarded with a sweeping panoramic view from the best viewpoint in Rio. On the return trip your descent from the mountain will be by car or van.
