What people are saying about Paronella Park
this privately owned park is truly beautiful. definitely worth a trip. it's an easy 2-1/2 hour drive from Port Douglas where we were holidaying. the story of Paronella Park need to be heard, the park and ruins of a past era resonate with stories of hardship, love, pain and beauty . the Laronella family had a dream to create something beautiful and they certainly did this on the banks of the Mena River. tragedy and the Australian way of life will leave you in awe of this incredible scape to visit.
Magocal place, with an atmosphere that is unique. The story and history shared on the day brings it to life. Enjoyed the tour given by Les, who had is giggling. Then later at the night light show tour, we had the privilege to meet Mark, one of the owners, whose passion and respect for the park and its history was evident. Mandy, the guide, was also excellent looking out for everyone and pointing out a firefly that was behind us.
Great experience, we didn’t plan on doing the guided half hour tour however we’re glad we did because the story of the park made walking around that much more interesting. Recommend if you’re in the area or heading up to cairns from Townsville like we were. The tour is part of the entry fee and alongside that you get one night free camping and park entry for 2 years.
Stunning collection of structures intermingled with beautiful flora, a walk in a wonderland that offers an opportunity to glimpse a story told by an artisan. Cheerful, informed staff who displayed great care for the well being of all visitors.
I wouldn't recommend buying your tickets for Paronella Park online - they offer better discounts at the door for families with kids normally considered as adults. We could have saved around $50.
