Sainte-Chapelle is a hidden gem on the Ile de la Cite. No matter how many pictures you see of it nothing prepares you for the magnificent beauty of stepping into the upper church. It really is a must see in Paris and having skip the line tickets makes the whole experience even more enjoyable!

I recommend having a good time to see how the sun illuminates the stained glass windows. Also stop at one of the stained glass windows to contemplate them and discover what they want to tell us and be amazed at the way of telling the story that was used in ancient times to people who could not read. It is important to read the brochure that explains how to follow the order of the stained glass windows and what we are seeing. It is also shocking to know that the beauty of the chapel is due to what I cared for at the time, the crown of thorns of Jesus Christ. All for the glory of God.

Sainte-Chapelle is beautiful in ways that cannot be explained. Take time to sit on the chairs provided and just admire the stained glass, ceiling and walls. The Conciergerie was a surprise! Learning all the history of what it was, and how it was used was a pleasant surprise. I am glad we did both.
