Full description
Visit the Louvre Museum’s must-see attractions and discover under-appreciated treasures on this comprehensive tour. Skipping the Louvre’s famously long lines gives you time to absorb all the massive museum has to offer. Your expert guide will share their passion for the collection as you move through the Louvre, unveiling subtle details most visitors never learn about the works of art on show. The ‘Mona Lisa’; the ‘Venus de Milo’; the ‘Winged Victory of Samothrace’. While they’re familiar the world over, no one can truly know these works without spending time in their presence. Your guide will explain their history, but only you can decide how these masterpieces make you feel. Often overshadowed by the famous highlights, but no less significant as works of art, the tour features Greek and Roman antiquities like the 4,000-year-old ‘Great Sphinx of Tanis’, other recognisable works by Da Vinci and Raphael, and highlights of the French Romantic period. Learn what people get wrong about Delacroix’s ‘Liberty Leading the People’ and decode the message of hope in Géricault's ‘Raft of the Medusa’. Sculptures like Michelangelo’s ‘Dying Slave’ and Antonio Canova’s ‘Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss’ add another dimension to the experience. In the Apollo Gallery, you’ll glimpse the Louvre’s own history as the Royal Palace, before Louis XIV relocated the court to Versailles. The equally opulent décor of the Second Empire is also preserved in the Napoleon Apartments. After the tour, you can continue exploring the Louvre at your leisure. Revisit earlier stops armed with new knowledge or embark on your own journey of discovery.

We had a fantastic tour of the Lovre with Tina. This tour happened during some of the Coronavirus fears and the museum attendance was lighter than normal. That helped our tour greatly. Tina knew a great deal about the significant art pieces as well as the history of the museum. I could not imagine having as good of an experience at the Louvre without a tour and without Tina’s clarity and knowledge. Do this tour.

The Louvre museum can be totally overwhelming if you go by yourself because there are too many things to see. An excellent way too appreciate so much beauty in the Louvre is with a guided tour. This 3 hour tour provided me and my husband with a overall view of the most important arts while walking a seeing the other many arts around us. Otherwise, you need a week or more to see everything and you will finish exhausted and not having a good overall experience.

Violette was a great tour guide in the Louvre! She had mastery of the subject matter, meaning the masterpieces in the Louvre. She was able to discuss the historical background and describe the important works of art in an entertaining and lively way. She was fluent in English and she had a firm grasp of English/American humor as well! In fact, Violette speaks multiple languages which is amazing! I highly recommend this guided tour in the Louvre with Violette if ever you come visit Paris. Thank you very much Violette!
