Full description

The Arc de Triomphe is a Neoclassical take on the ancient Roman triumphal arch style. Fifty meters tall, the view from the platform atop the arch is well worth the hike. See the dozen Parisian avenues radiating out from the arch into the City of Light. Paris is one of the most fascinating places in the world and you will find yourself right at its center. Inspired by the great arches of ancient Rome, Napoleon commissioned the Arc de Triomphe shortly after his victory at Austerlitz. Unfortunately, he never lived to see its completion. At the base of the arch, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier pays tribute to the 1.3 million French soldiers who died in World War I. Behold the eternal flame that is rekindled at 6.30 PM each evening. In addition, there is a must-see exhibition that explains the symbolic importance of this monument. The view from the top of the arch is worth climbing the 284 stairs. From your privileged position, survey all of Paris. Unlike the obligatory Eiffel Tower trip, getting into the Arc de Triomphe is an effort not all tourists undertake.

Truly the best views in Paris! Sure, you can go up there Eiffel Tower, and that’s great, too. But here for can also see the Eiffel Tower, as well as the Champs Elysee, the entire Etoille, and nearly all things of interest in each direction! You’ll have to climb about 280 steps inside, but there are places to stop to take a breather if you need to (there is an attended elevator you can use to go down if you ask). It’s a beautiful structure and so worth visiting! Lots to see inside to learn about the history of it. If you go close to sunset you’ll get lovely photos of it as the lighting is amazing. Go and enjoy!!

Recommend skip the line as the ticket queue was long. Children under 18 free and you do not need a ticket. Beware the first set of stairs test your fitness! Narrow staircase that is spiral so nowhere to stop for others to pass you have to keep going. Fascinating to watch the cars going round the roundabout. Very expensive to eat and drink down the champs Elysees, would avoid if I went again.

The voucher meant we got to skip the queue for buying tickets which was about a mile long. But then we had to queue for about 45 minutes through security so I would really recommend this ticket, especially if you have children, who do not want to queue. There are a lot of steep steps to climb. When you reach the top it is unbelievable and so surreal. There is no rush to leave and great opportunities for photos. The museum inside is interesting and there is a gift shop with lots to see and buy. Would definitely recommend buying.
