Full description
Experience the best of Paris on this unique tour, where you'll visit places featured in the beloved "36 Hours" travel column in "The New York Times." Start your cultural and culinary adventure in the heart of the Left Bank, on the famous Boulevard Saint Germain. Visit a quirky boutique with a unique cabinet des curiosités, including a private taxidermy museum. A small private taxidermy museum awaits, filled with stuffed wildlife from around the world, skeletons of various creatures, and some odd mash-ups that look as if they belong in a Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum instead of on the Left Bank. The historic boutique has long been dedicated to raising awareness for environmental and wildlife issues, and all the creatures on display have died of natural causes.

Make like a Parisian and flâner (stroll) to the Berges de Seine, a bustling river promenade, and explore a hidden alley that served as a meeting spot for leaders of the French Revolution. Taste the best hot chocolate in the city and meet the chefs in the exhibition kitchen at Michel Cluizel, at an iconic chocolate concept store housed in the former printing press of Jean-Paul Marat, another voice of the Revolution.

Continue your stroll down the Boulevard Saint-Germain, past historic cafes and bars where the likes of Jean-Paul Sartre and Samuel Beckett once sipped coffee, towards the Abbaye Saint-Germain-des-Prés, one of the oldest churches in Paris. Taste sumptuous macarons at award-winning pastry chef Pierre Hermé's store. Sample the legendary sourdough bread at Poilâne, an institution in France. Take in the beauty of the Luxembourg Gardens, designed for the Medici family in the early 17th century. Visit a little-known spot in the Gardens, and view and photograph the Eiffel Tower from an unusual perspective.

Stop by Cire Trudon, the world’s oldest candle and perfume maker, chat with the store manager about the illustrious history of the shop, play a guessing game with the different scents, and admire the world-famous wax sculptures. Explore the Marché Couvert (covered market), home to some of France’s most delectable cheeses. Meet the fourth-generation owners of Fromagerie Sanders, a cheesemonger known for being one of the best places in Paris to find unusual varieties. Finish your tour with a traditional aperitif at a lovely local wine store.
