This was an marvelous activity, I really enjoyed my time. Roman was our instructor and he was charismatic, attentive and kind. He had time to answer all of our questions, and overall made the experience a fun affair. I highly recommended this activity which allows you to get a glimpse of the french culture and an important part of their gastronomy: butter and cheese.

This was hands down one of the highlights of our trip to France. Romain was a great teacher and you can tell he has a passion for cheese and the art of cheese making. The butter and cheese we made were incredible and it was so fun to taste our finished products at the end. Such a unique thing to do on holiday in Paris.

Full description

Meet at the Paroles de Fromagers cheese shop, where you will be greeted by your cheese master and the rest of your group. First, visit the cheese-aging cellar located at the school. See and smell a wide variety of typical French cheeses that are slowly maturing into their final textures and flavors. Then, make your way to the cheese-making room. Learn how to create "tomme fraiche" cheese and an amazing artisanal butter. This cheese has a slightly milky acidic taste and is used for melting on a variety of traditional dishes.  Upon completion of the workshop, taste your creations accompanied by some wonderful local wine, for an authentic French culinary experience.

Our cheese making class was easily one of the best experiences we have had this past year while temporarily living in Paris. Our instructor was personable and very knowledgeable about cheese and their regions, as well as wine tasting. Her English was magnificent and her hands on instruction in both cheese and butter making made our group wanting to learn more. Two hours flew by - no one wanted to leave!
