Full description
Boasting an eclectic and ostentatious Baroque design, the Opera Garnier is one of the most extravagant representations of Second Empire architecture in France. Benefit from quick and easy access to this magnificent building in the center of Paris. Inaugurated in 1875 and named after its exciting young architect, Charles Garnier, it is the largest opera house in Europe. You will set eyes on the writhing snakes of the bronze “Pythonisse” sculpture, before climbing the double stairway of the “Grand Escalier” (Main Staircase). Imagine the swish of crinolines as you admire the breathtaking décor and stroll through vast foyers, filled with sparkling mosaics, colorful marble columns and gold-leaf flourishes. Everywhere you look will be a feast for the eyes. You will receive your digital ticket directly after your booking, just show it at the Opera visit entrance to enjoy your visit.

Although it was advised in the description that rehearsals may restrict areas we could visit it was very disappointing not to be able to see the main auditorium on the day we went due to rehearsals! I wonder how often this happens?? Probably most days as they are constantly producing operas so I imagine this is a regular occurrence so not really value for money as there is a high chance you won’t get to see what you’ve paid for. Why can’t there be a partial refund for a partial experience?

The OPERA GARNIER is an exquisite historical building that provides to us a view to its glorious past and the excellent present. Unfortunatelly the entrance to the theater was not admissable and we were very dissapointed. I believe that they should return us a sum of money of the ticket we purchased.

We’ll, it’s a glorious space. The grand staircase and salon are stunning in scale and beauty, and absorb the hordes quite easily. Resign yourself to a long, long queue to get in, however, whether or not you’ve pre-booked and a long wait to get into a box to get your turn to see and photograph the lovely auditorium where you’re at the mercy of rude people taking more than a fair share of time ahead of you and others shoving up behind you in a claustrophobic space. Tip: of the two boxes we saw That we’re open, the central one had a double entrance and shorter lines, so was much the better bet.
