Full description
Boasting an eclectic and ostentatious Baroque design, the Opera Garnier is one of the most extravagant representations of Second Empire architecture in France. Benefit from quick and easy access to this magnificent building in the center of Paris. Inaugurated in 1875 and named after its exciting young architect, Charles Garnier, it is the largest opera house in Europe. You will set eyes on the writhing snakes of the bronze “Pythonisse” sculpture, before climbing the double stairway of the “Grand Escalier” (Main Staircase). Imagine the swish of crinolines as you admire the breathtaking décor and stroll through vast foyers, filled with sparkling mosaics, colorful marble columns and gold-leaf flourishes. Everywhere you look will be a feast for the eyes. You will receive your digital ticket directly after your booking, just show it at the Opera visit entrance to enjoy your visit.

Get there early if you want to capture pictures without tourists. If you're talking selfies and are surrounded by tourists, use the portrait mode and slightly blur the background. Look closely at the details. Those are bats on the ceiling! Leisurely stroll through the hall of chandeliers and imagine walking amongst the French elite. I loved the sound of my footsteps on the parquet floor. Patiently wait to step out of the dim balcony box and see the theater. The sound of silence is incredible. Look up at the breathtaking paintings. Take a tremendous amount of pictures as the postcards in the gift shop are lacking in quality. Paris is always a good idea.

It was magic, I took a leap into the past...I was in the 19th century...all is splendor! I relived my visit to the Palace of Versailles in another place. The audio guide is just perfect, the journey is very well explained to keep the visit consistent and better see all the details of the works. Thank you, Mr. Garnier, for having bequeathed such a heritage to us.

Such a magnificent palace and theatre. Didn't have time to go to Versaille so when we visit Palace Garnier on our last day, I was just as satisfied (it is obviously not as big and don't have gardens, but inside is so amazing). The grand stairscase is just mesmorising. Took about hundred photos. We didn't take a tour, so just bought tickets and went around ourselves. Enjoy it very much. Book tickets via Getyourguide as we already used it to buy Effel Tower and boat trip tickets via website and were very happy with everything. Will use again.
