Full description

Explore the beautiful Normandy countryside on a full-day tour of the D-Day landing sites, and discover the rich traditions of Normandy at a typical cider and Calvados farm. The tour departs Paris for the historical battlefields and landing beaches along the coast, including the Utah Beach Museum, housed in an original German bunker on the very beach where the first American troops landed.

Learn about the complicated planning behind Operation Overlord, and hear touching stories of ordinary men and women whose actions shaped the face of Europe as we know it today.

The museum also offers unparalleled views over Utah Beach and is home to one of the only remaining B-26 airplanes in the world. Stop at a traditional cider-making orchard, and taste the ciders and Calvados (apple brandy) typical to the region in a 17th-century barn. Next, enjoy a Norman-style lunch of freshly prepared seasonal produce in a restaurant overlooking the port of Grandcamp Maisy. After lunch, travel to Pointe du Hoc to see the German cliff-top defense that was heroically taken by US Rangers during the D-Day landings. Overlooking the English Channel, the site remains much as it was over half a century ago, with original German fortifications and the crater scars of bombs. Pay your respects to the fallen at the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, located on a bluff overlooking Omaha Beach. Theodore Roosevelt, Jr., son of President Roosevelt, and a Medal of Honor recipient, is buried here, along with almost 10,000 soldiers.

It was a moving and powerful experience. It was a long day and the cider tasting could have been cut from the itinerary and more time added to Utah beach, Pointe Du Hoc, and the cemetery. Our guides were very nice but lacked extensive knowledge of the sites we visited.

What you are buying is transportation. Our guide had no knowledge and didn’t pretend to, really. He was basically along for the ride and read some generic material off a few notes. The bus ride is good. If you don’t want to plan your day this is for you. The itinerary is rushed. You get very little time at each stop. But if a cursory breeze through and photo op with no planning required is what you are looking for, this gets the job done. The lunch was not great. The cider tasting was OK but tbh would rather have used that time at the actual sites.

This tour was one of the most comedic experiences I have ever been on. It was pure entertainment. My brother and I are huge WW2 history buffs so this is something we always wanted to do. Anyways, the tour began at 7 am with a bus ride to Utah Beach. It’s like 4 hours. The tour guide didn’t show up until 8:45 am hahahahaha it was insane. Then when he finally gets on the bus the microphone is screeching so loud and we couldn’t hear him and everyone on the bus was booing him as he drops f bombs and says how he’s having a bad day. It was laugh out loud funny. The only reason this tour isn’t getting 0 stars is because it was pure and total entertainment it was so funny. I was in tears laughing. Anyways, this tour is cool. You go to the Utah beach museum and then lunch, then pointe du hoc and finally Omaha beach and the American cemetery. However just so you know it’s not like a tour where they explain stuff. They just take you there and let you wander. I’m sure it was just a one off but wow
