Full description
Hear about the Catholic legend of St. Denis, the first bishop of Paris, who was decapitated. Holding his head under his arm, he gave a sermon while walking to the site where the basilica was to be built some 900 years later.

Saint Louis selected this site for his family’s tombs, and the basilica now contains a collection of intricately sculpted sarcophagi.

Explore the official necropolis of the French Monarchy on this 2.5-hour guided tour. In all there are tombs of 43 kings and 32 queens, from the 7th-century King Dagobert through Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. A guided visit of the site takes you through much of the history of Paris itself.
