A simple walking tour, luckily it wasn't too crowded so we were able to take lots of pictures without photobombing.

The Palace is stunning, and it is another world. The wait was worth it, even with winds and rain!! This ticket does not make you skip any line though! I waited 50min to enter the Palace and spend at least 2-3hours

Full description

Starting with the Grand Trianon you can discover the estate of Marie Antoinette. As you explore the Grand Trianon that constituted Louis XIV’s second residence, imagine him escaping the protocols of the court here. Constructed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart in 1687, this 'little palace of pink marble and porphyry with delightful gardens' was inspired by Italian architecture and you can picture the refuge it once gave the royals. Discover the lavish furniture displayed in the rooms which dates from the First Empire and testifies to Napoleon's many periods of residence at the Grand Trianon, with his wife the Empress Marie-Louise. Wander through the Petit Trianon and its park which are inextricably linked to the memory of Queen Marie-Antoinette. In her Trianon Estate, given to her by Louis XVI, she found a haven of intimacy that enabled her to escape court etiquette.

Important information

Know before you go

  • Entrance is free for children under 18 years old, and for EU citizens under 26 years old. In both cases it is necessary to get a free ticket from the cashdesk with a valid form of identification is required. Non-EU citizens between 18 and 25 need to buy a ticket
  • You may experience some waiting time at the security check at the entrance of the Estate
  • Arrive early to avoid the crowds. In high season, the Estate can be very crowded in the morning
  • The gardens are not accessible on the following dates: Tuesdays between 31 March and 27 October; weekends between 28 March and 1 November; and 3 April, 8 May, 21 May, and 14 July
  • To access the gardens during those days, you will have to pay an additional fee of EUR 9. You can also book 'Versailles Palace and Garden Full Access Day with Fountain Show'

Great opportunity to see the King and Queen's less formal dwellings. A more intimate look their private life. Marie-Antoinette's hamlet was an unexpected surprise filled with gardens, ponds and ducks created a farm like retreat which was reminiscent of that era.
