Full description

Explore one of the world’s best art museums at your own pace with your ticket to the Louvre. Skip the ticket line and head straight to the security check, before heading inside and viewing some of the world's finest art. Once inside the historic palace located on the Right Bank of the Seine, see unmissable and iconic sights such as the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo. Discover masterpieces of the Renaissance and ancient Egyptian relics, along with paintings from the 13th to 20th centuries, prints from the Royal Collection, and much more. The museum first opened on August 10 1793 with an exhibition of just 537 paintings. Despite closing in 1796, due to structural problems, it reopened in 1801 as the Musée Napoléon with a larger collection. Many works were seized and returned to their original owners after the defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo. The collection was increased during the reign of Louis XVIII and Charles X, and during the Second French Empire the museum gained 20,000 pieces. Holdings have grown steadily since the Third Republic, and as of 2008, the collection is divided among 8 curatorial departments: Egyptian Antiquities; Near Eastern Antiquities; Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Antiquities; Islamic Art; Sculpture; Decorative Arts; Paintings; and Prints and Drawings. Note that 'Pass Education' holders, people under 18, and EU residents under 26 get free entry with valid ID.

Louvre Museum is such an amazing and beautiful place. Very organised and a lot to see. It's worth the money. I really recommend to book with "getyourguide". We were supposed to get the vouchers separately from the local partner but on the day we were supposed to go at the Louvre,we hadn't received the entrance tickets yet. I contacted get your guide on WhatsApp and within 5 Minutes they sent the tickets and entered without any problems. It's also family friendly. We went with a baby and we were offered a free stroller that we used throughout the whole tour of the museum. That was a great relief than carrying the baby using a baby carrier the whole time.

The Louvre does NOT control the number of visitors at a given time. Consequently, the museum is overcrowded, particularly some rooms. Have they dont heard that we are in the middle of a pandemic and that we have to keep distances with other people? this sounds like a joke for yhe Louvre! I would had expect this institution to be more concerned and serious and to want to protect their visitors. Big disappointment! As in my previous visits I enjoyed the art pieces, but not as confortably as I had expected

It was great. Mona Lisa looked a little bit tired, but it was nice to meet her tho. Most favorite part of the museum was the photoshoot with my boyfriend, when no one was in our way (almost never tbh). just a little point to be aware of is that there isn’t any air conditioner and trust me when it is 30 degrees, you feel 40 around all the people sweating. i recommande.
