Full description

Enjoy a half-day trip to the former home of Claude Monet, one of the most famous painters of French Impressionism. Located in the tiny hamlet of Giverny on the banks of the River Seine, 50 miles west of Paris, the house and gardens were bequeathed to the Académie des Beaux-Arts by his son in 1966.

They were opened as a public museum in 1980 following large-scale restoration work. Depending on the option you choose, your tour will either be guided, audio-guided or at your own leisure.  Depart Paris and travel by comfortable air-conditioned coach. As there is no direct public transport to Giverny, this is the ideal way to get there.

You will drive via the western districts of Paris and take the Normandy motorway as far as Bonnières. After crossing the River Seine at Vernon, continue to Giverny through the wooded plateaus of Eure. Giverny attracted several Impressionist painters in the 19th-Century, most following the lead of the movement’s founder, Claude Monet, who lived there for 43 years. Visit the Master’s house, where the spectacular colors and enchanting garden were designed like a work of art.

Be dazzled by the flowerbeds and plants and get a sense of the artist’s feelings and inspirations as you stand in front of the famous water lilies and weeping willows in the delightful water garden.

Easy pick up. Clean, comfortable bus. Large group. 0ver 40 people with one guide. Sound system not constantly functional on the bus. Tour guide was nice, she had some interesfacts to share. The gardens are phenomenal. The house is lovely to see. I would opt for a ponder tour next time. Also would go as early as possible to avoid the crowds.

This was a great 1/2 outing from Paris. The ride on the bus was pretty and comfortable. The audioguide was easy to use and very interesting. The ground of Giverny was beautiful with wonderful flowers and a charming pond. The house is lovely and interesting to see his collection of Japanese art. 1 1/2 hours at the house was actually enough. having a bit more time to explore the cute little town would have been wonderful. We were there on a drizzly day and it was still lovely.

Giver is absolutely fantastic. Can’t recommend it enough. Check in was chaotic and poorly organized in terms of who goes where and where the bus is as there are multiple tours leaving from the same place. My friend’s seatbelt didn’t work. We were on the audio guide bus, not the guided your. The style of our guide was odd; she scolded the entire group multiple times for talking. Her reaction was as if we were poorly behaved schoolchildren instead of adults. In all, it didn’t really matter because Giverny was so great, and she was managing a lot of people.
