Full description

Discover the secrets of Versailles Palace on this day trip from Paris. Travel by train and enjoy pre-booked entrance tickets that guarantee you direct access. Take a guided tour to uncover all that this stately palace has to offer.

Meet your guide in downtown Paris and relax on the ride to Versailles aboard a local train. Once you reach the Chateau, begin your trip through time as you gain a vivid understanding of the royal personalities who inhabited the site.

Find out how Versailles was the most splendid capital in the world during the 17th century reign of Louis XIV. Hear about how the royal family was continuously on display, how they subjugated the proud nobles, and recaptured preeminence in fashion and art.

Listen to astonishing anecdotes about the lavish lifestyle of Marie Antoinette and understand how uncomfortable she was at this public palace, preferring her private domains. Upon completing your tour of the royal apartments go to the luxurious gardens.

Admire this lush area that was the setting for promenades, performances, and pyrotechnics. On days when the fountains are active, appreciate the elegant and omnipresent bubbling jets of water. Work up a an appetite and take a break for lunch.

Go on an afternoon excursion to the queen’s personal domain. During this three-hour tour you’ll visit the Petit Trianon, an exquisite private palace set in a luxuriant garden where Marie Antoinette spent much of her time.

Wander through the queen’s Normandy village, featuring a vineyard, a dairy, and a vegetable farm, which was arranged for her to simulate the healthy simplicity of country life.

Reduce the walking distance on the tour by taking the 'Petit Train' from the Palace to and from the Petit Trianon. After your tour it's a short walk to the train station where you'll catch the direct train back to Paris.

Choose to add on a gourmet 3 course lunch with wine in the restaurant in the Palace run by Chef Ducasse. Return to Paris by train at th end of your day trip.

We had the full-day tour with the visit to Trianon. One guide met us at the metro and led us through the train process which was nice if that scares you. There was a long walk to/from Versailles from the station, which isn't ideal for a visit that is already a lot of walking. The then bring you to your next guide who leads you though the palace/gardens. Things also move kinda fast and our tour guide lost two attendees at one point in the tour, and could've lost a couple in the metro too. Our guide at Versailles was pretty knowledgeable, but not an "expert" by any means, just someone who has done this a few times and has googled stuff to do a tour. She knew enough to fill a tour, but couldn't really answer too many questions. We also bought this one because it said it had a "fountain show," but everyone has access to that if you're in the gardens so that's not actually an extra thing. Overall Versailles is a great trip and this is an okay option for people w/o transportation.

Trip and guide were amazing with no issues once we got to Versailles. The only problem was that the representative scheduled to get us to the train was late and 2 of the passengers train tickets were not valid so after a lot of issues with the train authorities the tour representative finally paid an additional $70 to get them new tickets but they had to insist that the tour representative pay bc he originally told them it wasn’t his fault.

The day at Versailles was certainly a highlight of an amazing week in Paris. The castle, the grounds, the musical gardens and the Petit Trianon were absolutely breath-taking! I would definitely recommend this tour. Our guide was great, very entertaining and accommodating!
