Full description

Discover the secrets of Versailles Palace on this day trip from Paris. Travel by train and enjoy pre-booked entrance tickets that guarantee you direct access. Take a guided tour to uncover all that this stately palace has to offer.

Meet your guide in downtown Paris and relax on the ride to Versailles aboard a local train. Once you reach the Chateau, begin your trip through time as you gain a vivid understanding of the royal personalities who inhabited the site.

Find out how Versailles was the most splendid capital in the world during the 17th century reign of Louis XIV. Hear about how the royal family was continuously on display, how they subjugated the proud nobles, and recaptured preeminence in fashion and art.

Listen to astonishing anecdotes about the lavish lifestyle of Marie Antoinette and understand how uncomfortable she was at this public palace, preferring her private domains. Upon completing your tour of the royal apartments go to the luxurious gardens.

Admire this lush area that was the setting for promenades, performances, and pyrotechnics. On days when the fountains are active, appreciate the elegant and omnipresent bubbling jets of water. Work up a an appetite and take a break for lunch.

Go on an afternoon excursion to the queen’s personal domain. During this three-hour tour you’ll visit the Petit Trianon, an exquisite private palace set in a luxuriant garden where Marie Antoinette spent much of her time.

Wander through the queen’s Normandy village, featuring a vineyard, a dairy, and a vegetable farm, which was arranged for her to simulate the healthy simplicity of country life.

Reduce the walking distance on the tour by taking the 'Petit Train' from the Palace to and from the Petit Trianon. After your tour it's a short walk to the train station where you'll catch the direct train back to Paris.

Choose to add on a gourmet 3 course lunch with wine in the restaurant in the Palace run by Chef Ducasse. Return to Paris by train at th end of your day trip.

Our small group of tourists was met by a guide near the Metro who then accompanied us on our 20 minute ride to Versailles. There we were me by the tour guide who spent the day with us in Versailles. This is a very active tour. Expect to do a lot of walking and you will see and learn everything about the history of Versailles.

I really enjoyed the tour, Versailles is amazing and it was nice to have someone else plan the whole day for me, all I had to do was show up to the early morning meet point on time and away we went! I really recommend especially if, like me, you are in town on business and are alone on a weekend.

This was two half-day tours combined into a full day tour, so we had different participants in the morning and afternoon. Definitely the afternoon was a huge highlight, being able to take the Petit train to see Petit Trianon and Marie Antoinette’s little play village. Our guide, Ed, was energetic, knowledgeable and spoke flawless English. I was impressed that the first guide met us outside the train station, escorted us on the train, walked us from the station to Versailles (15 minutes away) and then turned us over to Ed. We purchased the lunch option at the Alain Ducasse on-site restaurant, which was excellent (Ed escorted us there and picked us up afterwards for the second half of the day). Taking the train to Versailles vs being picked up by coach allowed flexibility to linger in the town of Versailles and train back to Paris when we were ready. I highly recommend this full day by train option-prepare for walking over gravel and cobblestone surfaces; bring a hat/umbrella for shade.
