Full description

Discover first-hand what makes France's sparkling wines so special when you swap Paris for the famous Champagne region. This day trip visits 3 Champagne houses, famous sights and villages and stops for an authentic French lunch with Champagne.

A luxury van will collect you from your hotel or a central Paris meeting point and whisk you out to the countryside. Yes, today is an early start but expect a bag of fresh croissants to enjoy while your guide shares insights into the sparkling world of Champagne.

The first stop will be a prestigious and world-famous Champagne estate (depending on availability it could be Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Mercier, Taittinger etc). A guided tour explores huge galleries filled with Champagne bottles, finishing with a Champagne tasting.

Next stop is a masterclass led by your expert guide in the heart of a vineyard. Surrounded by vines and gorgeous views learn the basics of professional wine tasting and practice with a special blended cuvée.

By now it's time for lunch at a family-run Champagne house or a local restaurant. Enjoy traditional French fare while tasting several glasses of Champagne and ratafias (another local wine).

Digest lunch while touring a vineyard of the Côte des Blancs and Vallée de la Marne. Learn the characteristics of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier while soaking in breathtaking views.

Between vineyards get to know Hautvillers, a charming French village known as the historic birthplace of Champagne and home of the legendary Dom Perignon.

It's a good experience overall as you get to know a few more 'secrets' about how champagne is made and why it has such a amazing reputation. You get to taste about 8 types of champagne, or that's just how many I tasted, you get to eat a meal prepared by a family that owns a maison de champagne, which is both interesting as it is next to the vineyard and a little weird as it feels that it's not really at the same level with the..champagne theme. The trip is enjoyable, in comfortable buses, but I still can't grasp how it is possible to bring children to these kind of trips. It's not really a trip that can be interesting to them and it just makes the group more divided. The guide and the driver were friendly, approachable and always ready to help, but the itinerary of the trip felt really short as by 17:30 we were back in Paris while we left at 7:45. It felt, short in a way. Nevertheless, for those that had no contact with champagne, it's a good experience.

We had booked the visit to be done in French… Unfortunately, despite having paid more for it, the visit was done in English without warning us in advance. This greatly affected my visit eg my understanding of all the technical components presented. Despite this, the champagne flowed freely, the meal served was excellent and the guide Bastien knew a lot about champagne. He tried to make us discover all his knowledge! Very friendly and available! We were a small group from all over the globe, 8 people. Superb shipping!!!

Jo picked us up and took us out on a fabulous day. We started with a tour of Moët&Chandon champagne house( I was totally not expecting we would go there) then drove thru the countryside to a fabulous view of the vineyards for another tasting. Afterwards we had a lovely lunch in a private little room at a Champagne house. The food was so good and the champagne varieties were fun to try. We ended with a tour of a Co-op house to try additional champagnes- 8 glasses in all. Our group was really fun and it was worth the money. Cheers!
