See the only permanent collection of its kind in France, dedicated to the master of surrealism and home to over 300 sculptures, pictures, and lithographs, each one more surprising than the last.
Your guide will explain key moments in the life of the Catalan master to help you understand his fantastical world. Hear how Dali’s over-protective parents, who had lost their 1st child named Salvador, led him to develop his "special" character. Learn how he encouraged students at the Madrid Fine Art school to rebel. Get an appreciation of his excessive temperament, overflowing imagination, and surrealist vision.
Look at key works, inspired by his most famous paintings, such as the famous “Melting Watches,” “Hallucinogenic Toreador,” “Alice in Wonderland” and “Space Elephant.” Marvel at the famous Mae West “Lips Sofa,” inspired by the 1920s actress.
From September 9, 2016 to March 31, 2017, the Espace Dali hosts the exhibition "Joann Sfar - Salvador Dali, une seconde avant l'éveil" (one second before awakening). Carte blanche was given to Joann Sfar, one of the most talented contemporary storytellers, known for his comic "Le Chat du Rabbin" (The Rabbi's Cat) and his movie "Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life". Joann Sfar will imagine a scenario of an artistic encounter with Dali.
The exhibition is an invitation to an "immobile journey" of a painter and his models moving between dream and reality, over a writing in drawing of Joann Sfar. In a scenery delighted with Dali's sculptures and surrealist objects and Schiaparelli's haute couture creations that inspired the artist, more than 200 original drawings, sketches, sketches are to be discovered.
