What People Are Saying About Paris
This tour is all anyone could wish for. Felix is friendly, well informed and articulate in the history and beauty of this well known landmark. I would recommend the company and Felix to anyone.
Great your, great guide,( Chloe Merrcion) great price. Would certainly recommend
If you are looking for things that give you more than the typical tourist experience - this tour is a definite. Not only do you get priority access to the tower, but you get to see behind the scenes - how the hydraulic lifts work, the bunker beneath the tower and tidbits of information the general public don't normally see. Try and stay at the front of the group so that you can hear the guide.
Booked this tour through GetYourGuide, and the tour company hosting the tour was Cultival. It was a little chaotic at the start as there were so many people waiting around the entrance to the tower gates. The tour starts with an explanation about the cathedral before we begin the climb of the 400 steps to the top. The view across Paris is breath-taking, even three-quarter way up the tower. One small frustration was with roughly 20 people on the tour, hearing the tour guide was a bit difficult. After the last 100 or so steps we were rewarded with a view of Paris tinged by the first rays of the setting sun. The guide pointed out the key buildings and areas of Paris, giving a brief description of the arrondissements and the city layout. The tour finished up with us capturing pictures of the setting sun over Paris.
Sainte-Chapelle is beautiful and gives a great insight into the French medieval mindset and monarchy. It you are interested in European and/French history it is a must see; the ticket was very cheap considering the what you receive in return. I have only two criticisms : firstly, that it was difficult to locate with my eyes the stain glass windows that the audio-guide I paid for was referring to; secondly, the audio should have gone into greater detail. I should point out however that I like a lot of detail and the length of detail that it did go into would probably be more than enough for most people.
