What to Expect
Starting from the statue of Louis XIV, the focus of the so-called Axe Historique or Triumphal Way, you will trace the urban history of Paris with your guide on this 2-hour private tour.
You’ll hear about the landmarks and monuments along the 4 kilometers of the axis. Pass beneath the Arc du Carrousel, erected by Napoleon I in honor of the Battle of Austerlitz, and cross the Tuileries Gardens, the French example of perfection.
See the Place de la Concorde and hear about the history of the Egyptian Obelisk, located the center of Paris. Walk down the elegant Champs-Elysées, lined with cafés and boutiques, to the Arc de Triomphe, the Napoleonic monument for excellence. Climb to the top and look back at the route you followed, admire the views of the surrounding area, and see the Great Arch of La Défense.
