Full description

Escape the hustle and bustle of Parisian life and enter into the Garden of France. Stroll the walkways of the French monarchs, hear tales of royal love affairs and kidnappings, and behold the beauty of the Loire Valley's exquisite Chateaux.  The first stop of the day is Château de Chambord; the perfect example of French Renaissance architecture, this remarkable structure was built by King François I between 1519-1547 and is the largest château in the Loire Valley.

Who designed this masterpiece is still in dispute, and with contenders including Leonardo da Vinci, its sights are sure not to disappoint. Next up is the charming Château de Chenonceau, a true fairy tale castle set picturesquely on the Cher River, its history and character has been shaped by the women who've inhabited it. The site of the first-ever French fireworks display, Chenonceau is really one to fall in love with. The last stop will be at Château de Cheverny, a 17th-century beauty furnished in great taste and with marvelous gardens. Enjoy free time for lunch (not included) during the day either at Chenonceau or Chambord. You’ll be back in Paris in the evening.

It was a great day trip from Paris. The tour was well-organized and the bus was clean. About lunch, well, it's off season so we can't really tell whether the restaurant in Chenonceau will be open or not, so for the guide to advise to bring some food to eat in the picnic area is a well thought alternative.

We did quite enjoy this tour. We have been on a lot of other tours throughout Europe and I think this in comparison to our cheaper tours didn’t stand out as much. The tour guide was lovely, the group was large, the chateaus were magnificent. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of not only the chateaus themselves, but the French history. It was very educational. The only thing we were a bit disappointed with was the Chateau de Chambord. When we planned this tour we saw pictures of the chateaus and were most excited for this one. Unfortunately when we got there, most of the roof was under reconstruction (fair enough, safety first) and most of the items in the chateau were replicas (except for a few tapestries). The coolest thing about it was the staircase, which was inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci. Overall however, the tour was lovely. I would recommend, just don’t put your expectations too high.

Originally we were booked on another tour that was cancelled. We booked this tour with short notice as a replacement. I was disappointed that there was no lunch, no time for lunch and nowhere to buy a snack. It was a surprise that the tour guide at 9am stopped at a gas station and warned us to pick something up for lunch later. I would have much preferred time for lunch, or at least the gas station stop near lunch time.
