Covid-19 Update

Due to health and safety regulations, this itinerary may change. See Know before you go for the latest updates.

Make your way to the Pantheon to explore the best-preserved monument of ancient Rome. Collect your audio guide at the desk inside the Pantheon to begin learning about its fascinating history. Make use of 15 listening points and a map to locate points of interest inside the basilica. Learn the history of the building and how it later came to be used a church and a mausoleum. The Pantheon, built between 25 and 27 B.C., is the only ancient Roman building that has remained nearly intact through the centuries. Dedicated to all the gods of Pagan Rome, the temple was built by the Emperor Hadrian on the site of an earlier temple commissioned by Marcus Agrippa during the reign of Augustus. Classified as a temple, the original use of the Pantheon and how people worshipped there is unknown as the structure is different from other traditional Roman temples, such as the Roman Forum.

Excellent, By booking the audio guide you can guarantee entrance into the Pantheon. When we got there anyone who had not booked an audio guide were not allowed in as tickets for that day were full. The Pantheon is free to get in. By showing our GYG vouchers from my phone at the desk myself and my husband were provided with the official audio guides. We had to give ID which is kept by the staff and returned after. I'm so glad we booked this as the information given was very interesting and we learnt more than we would have done had we not. Very good.

This experience was good but when I tried to book another the app kept throwing an error. After a couple of hours, I contacted CS, who said I needed to book on the website. It turned out it was booked out already but the app just threw errors and the CS agent clearly didn’t understand when I reported that issue. Very disappointing and a complete waste of time.

Really enjoyed this trip and the audio tour was more than enough. Really easy to get in and use the audio guide. The Pantheon is quite small and the audio really interesting, I’m not sure having a guided tour would have added anything. We had tried to visit on a previous day but it was fully booked for 2 days. Make sure you book in advance if you have a specific day in mind. You also need to have shoulders covered here, people were turned away and forced to buy scarves from the sellers outside.
