The guide during the tour is a local person, but not professional guide, so don’t expect typical factual detail insights. The tour is great to look at Panama through the eyes of the locals. We were assisted by Santiago, who is a class act guy. He gave us interesting insights into the history and the current developments of Panama. We were moving from place to place by Uber what was effective, fast and cheap mean of communication across the city. We would like to thank Santiago for taking care about us. His English was great. It was a pleasure to spend time with this young gentleman.
We enjoyed this tour, however there was not much food involved. The ceviche at the Fish Market was outstanding. The other stops had a small taste of local chocolate and coffee, a craft brewery for beer, and a rooftop bar for rum. Jorge, the guide, was okay. He was engaging but spoke too softly in the noisy locations to be heard. He also spent way too much time raving and explaining about the coffee at the first stop. I knew we had these stops, but on other food tours we have taken in different cities more local food was part of the tour even at the alcohol based stops.
Unexpectedly wonderful! We started with a coffee and chocolate tasting. Next stop was a beer flight tasting at a place close by(very walkable). Next on to an authentic Panamanian fish market where we tasted 3 types of ceviche with local beer(beer was extra, but only $1.50) Our last stop was at a trendy rooftop bar to taste Abuela rum. Our tour guide was full of local knowledge. I was so happy we stumbled upon this gem of a tour.
Great start of our trip to Panama City. Walking through the streets of Casco Antiguo, tasting delicious flavors of the city and watching the sunset from a rooftop where you could see both modern and old city, while seeping Abuelo's rum tasting, was quite an experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the city's history and interesting.
Jeff our guide was amazing and overall it was the best tour we did. Award winning Coffee, chocolate, craft beer, passion fruit monitor and fresh ceviche - all in 2 hours. What more could you ask for :)
