Prior to landing, the communication was great, I met Luis outside of customs in Terminal 2 and we were off. Luis was a wonderful guy. Very informative and kind. We hit all the stops and he even showed me where he grew up, where he was married, etc. It was a very personable and local experience. The highlight was The Canal and watching a large vessel come through. It took so long that I didn’t make the IMAX, but I feel I loved the IMAX! I roughly recommend the tour and ask for Luis if you can.

Full description

Using your flight number and airline name, a driver will track your flight until it lands. After landing, the driver will be waiting for you outside Customs at Terminal 2 with a sign highlighting your name. The driver will assist you to the car with your carry-on luggage.

Once in the car, the driver will head to the Miraflores Visitors Center at the Panama Canal, where you will see the ships going through the Miraflores Locks on their way from one ocean to the other. The tour will be designed for you to visit the Panama Canal during the busiest time of the day, so you can watch the process from a terrace.

After leaving the Panama Canal, the guide will take you to the Amador Causeway, a road that connects 3 islands, where you will have the opportunity to see the Biodiversity Museum designed by Frank Gehry.

The following destination will be the Old Town (Casco Viejo) of Panama, where you can appreciate the beauty of colonial buildings and handcrafts shops while walking the quaint, narrow roads.

After the Old Town, see the modern downtown of Panama City on your way back to the airport.

Know before you go

  • Keep in mind a minimum of 7 hours between flights are needed to be able to take part in the tour. Additionally, travelers coming from Brazil are required to bring their International Vaccination Certificate against yellow fever
  • Tickets for the Visitor Center of the Panama Canal have an additional cost of USD $17.22 per adult and USD $7.22 per child to be purchased at the Panama Canal. This stop is optional because there is a free observation area from Pedro Miguel Locks.
