Huesca: Family Rafting

Huesca: Family Rafting

We will be welcomed at the meeting point in “RíoEscuela” (= river school) headquarters in Murillo de Gállego in Huesca between the Basque Country and Catalonia in the Pyrenees and 3 hours from Barcelona. In the changing rooms we will put on our wetsuit and equipment. The rafting company's vans will take us to the start point of the river in less than 10 minutes. The guides will give us safety instructions and teach us how to paddle. With all the technical equipment adjusted, we will practice in the starting beautiful pool and we will begin to feel the vitality that the river offers us enjoying and having fun with the help of the guide. During the descent we will feel shared emotions running through our body. The river is of an intermediate level (class 3) and no previous experience is necessary. This company has given training courses to rafting guides in 15 countries and we are part of the International Rafting Federation GTE Committee. We know what we do and we do it with passion. Our goal is to make it an unforgettable activity for the participant, both for calm families and for the most adventurous people, repeating that our motto is “Fun with Safety”. We will contemplate the spectacular landscape that the Kingdom of the Mallos offers us with its conglomerate giants. We will observe signs of otters and beavers under the flight of large birds of prey. We will have the option of baths and we will demonstrate our ability to get on the raft without help. We will arrive at the river finish point where we will get wet into the company’s vans and in less than 5 minutes we will be in the changing rooms. At the exit we can have a drink on our large terraces with views of the “Mallos de Riglos” while we remember the good times of the rafting descent. For many rafting with Río Escuela is the best thing of their family holidays.

From Pamplona or Logroño: Rioja Wineries Day Trip w/ Tasting

From Pamplona or Logroño: Rioja Wineries Day Trip w/ Tasting

The neighboring region of La Rioja is characterized by its millenary tradition in the production of wine, which some say comes from Roman times. In any case, it is known that at the end of the 19th century Bordeaux winemakers came to the area, identifying suitable characteristics in its terrain and climate, to begin an extensive production that has made the DO Rioja the most important in the country today in day. Take advantage of the opportunity offered by this tour to visit two medium-sized wineries in the area (we always try to stay away from crowded groups) and learn the secrets of winemaking. We will also visit the medieval village of Laguardia, on top of a hill, to enjoy a panoramic view of the great plain of vineyards. Approximate itinerary from Pamplona: 9:45 Pick up and departure from Pamplona 11:00 Visit to the first winery and wine tasting 1:00 Visit to the second winery and wine tasting 2:00 Arrival in Laguardia and light meal. 3:30 Departure from Laguardia 4:45 Drop off in Pamplona

Pamplona - Private Historic Walking Tour

Pamplona - Private Historic Walking Tour

Start the tour at the Bull Run Monument. The hyper-realistic artwork depicting a group of young men being pursued by the bulls is dedicated to the famous tradition of Bull Run which takes over the entire city each July. The statue of high artistic value captures the wild energy and excitement of the daring race in beautiful detail. Next, walk by Navarra Palace, the seat of government. One of its two façades overlooks the 25-meter-tall Monument to the Fueros, symbolizing History, Justice, Autonomy, Peace, and Work. This symbolic monument, with the powerful and solemn neo-classical palace in the background, is one of the most photographed sites in the city. Continue to stroll across the Castle Square. The large open space ringed by old, attractive buildings is the center of Pamplona's social life and the scene of important events. One interesting fact is that it was Ernest Hemingway’s favorite place where he based his famous novel ‘The Sun Also Rises’ when travelling to this city in 1923 Of all the highlights of the square, check out the photo-worthy Town Hall, which dominates a corner of the square and stands out for its intricate classical façade featuring intriguing statues on its top and entrance. Next, pass by the Dead Man’s Corner, one of the most dangerous sections of the bull runs as it curves so sharply that only veteran runners can handle it. Though as scary as it sounds, this corner is also full of lovely shops, eateries, and vibes! Just a stone’s away is the Navarrería Fountain in the cozy Navarrería square, the favorite gathering spot for tourists with an array of colorful buildings and charming bars. Strangely enough, there is a dangerous tradition of jumping from the fountain, which is discouraged. Go on to visit Pamplona Cathedral. The imposing cathedral is one of the most complete architectural complexes with three naves, several cloisters, chapels, bell towers, etc. designed in different styles. What’s more, the central nave houses the mausoleum of Charles III the Noble and his wife Doña Leonor. Proceed to enter through the Portal of France into the fairytale maze of the ancient city’s walls. This intact gate has been used since medieval times by pilgrims arriving in Pamplona on the Pilgirm’s Way of St. James. For a perfect end, head to the Ravelin of the Kings, which offers terrific views of the impressive ancient walls and the city from the height of many observing platforms.

We ended up in a private tour and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. We visited two different wineries (one of them included a tour of the vineyard and the production site) and enjoyed both the wine and the food tasting. The lunch in Laguardia was really nice and the sights were amazing. We also had a fantastic guide, Albie. So overall we would definitely recommend this wine tour of Rioja Alavesa!

A lot of fun facts and the host made the activity interactive and engaging. He went out of his way to make sure we were immersed in the experience even though it was just the two of us due to a “werewolf accident”.

Amazing experience! We took our 8 year old daughter for the first time and our guide was amazing at making her feel relaxed and included! The scenery is amazing. A must do if visiting.

Beautiful rafting experience, great as a first experience! Beautiful landscapes and lots of fun and adrenaline, also thanks to our guide Eneko, to do again!
