Pamplona

We will be welcomed at the meeting point in “RíoEscuela” (= river school) headquarters in Murillo de Gállego in Huesca between the Basque Country and Catalonia in the Pyrenees and 3 hours from Barcelona. In the changing rooms we will put on our wetsuit and equipment. The rafting company's vans will take us to the start point of the river in less than 10 minutes. The guides will give us safety instructions and teach us how to paddle. With all the technical equipment adjusted, we will practice in the starting beautiful pool and we will begin to feel the vitality that the river offers us enjoying and having fun with the help of the guide. During the descent we will feel shared emotions running through our body. The river is of an intermediate level (class 3) and no previous experience is necessary. This company has given training courses to rafting guides in 15 countries and we are part of the International Rafting Federation GTE Committee. We know what we do and we do it with passion. Our goal is to make it an unforgettable activity for the participant, both for calm families and for the most adventurous people, repeating that our motto is “Fun with Safety”. We will contemplate the spectacular landscape that the Kingdom of the Mallos offers us with its conglomerate giants. We will observe signs of otters and beavers under the flight of large birds of prey. We will have the option of baths and we will demonstrate our ability to get on the raft without help. We will arrive at the river finish point where we will get wet into the company’s vans and in less than 5 minutes we will be in the changing rooms. At the exit we can have a drink on our large terraces with views of the “Mallos de Riglos” while we remember the good times of the rafting descent. The neighboring region of La Rioja is characterized by its millenary tradition in the production of wine, which some say comes from Roman times. In any case, it is known that at the end of the 19th century Bordeaux winemakers came to the area, identifying suitable characteristics in its terrain and climate, to begin an extensive production that has made the DO Rioja the most important in the country today in day. Strangely enough, there is a dangerous tradition of jumping from the fountain, which is discouraged. Go on to visit Pamplona Cathedral. The imposing cathedral is one of the most complete architectural complexes with three naves, several cloisters, chapels, bell towers, etc. designed in different styles. What’s more, the central nave houses the mausoleum of Charles III the Noble and his wife Doña Leonor. Proceed to enter through the Portal of France into the fairytale maze of the ancient city’s walls. This intact gate has been used since medieval times by pilgrims arriving in Pamplona on the Pilgirm’s Way of St. James.
