Marrakech Palmeraie: Camel Ride at Sunset

It was my first time visiting Africa and my first experience riding a camel. The camel guide was very cheerful and attentive, which made a great impression on me. Initially, I had signed up for a tour starting at 6:30 PM, but I was informed the day before that the meeting time had changed to 5:00 PM. I rescheduled my booking to the following day, and the process was very smooth. Since the time of sunset varies depending on the season, participants should allow for some flexibility in timing.

Hamid was an incredible camel herder who was very kind and considerate, we had a lovely conversation during the ride and he taught me some of the Berber language and lyrics to the Berber song/hymm he was singing along the ride. So we were singing together for a little while during the ride which was such a lovely experience. He took incredible pictures and made a video with berber music in the background and made me a little souvenir for me out of leaves he picked in the desert. It was such a nice little journey. Adnan drove me to the point and back he was also really friendly and kind. The man who put on my headscarf and made tea was also easygoing and pleasant. I was the only person who had booked for this time, so it turned out to be a private and I felt safe and enjoyed the experience throughout.
