Full description

Discover the top sights in Palermo from a unique angle on this guided walking tour. Every stop is a chance to pause for reflection on the realities of the Mafia and consider the civic movement against Mafioso power.

Meet your guide and begin your mafia-themed adventure thorugh the streets of Palermo. Explore Teatro Massimo, the open-air market "Il Capo", Piazza Della Memoria (Memorial dedicated to prosecutors and judges killed by the Mafia).

Stroll by sights like Piazza Beati Paoli, the Cathedral, the City Hall, and Piazza Magione. Meet shopkeepers who avoided paying the Pizzo and who have subscribed to the ethical consumer campaign ‘Pago chi non Paga’ (I pay who does not pay).

Learn about how this campaign is promoted by Addiopizzo to support those that have decided to rebel against the Mafia. End the tour at Antica Focacceria San Francesco, one of the oldest restaurants in Palermo, famous for its tasty street food.

Find out how the owners had the courage to speak out against extortion. Lunch is not included but if you decide to stay you can taste some specialties like, "pane con la Milza" (sandwich stuffed with beef spleen and ricotta cheese), "Arancine" (rice balls).

Have the option to purchase some "Panelle" (chickpea fritters), "Anelletti al Forno" (baked ring-shaped pasta), "Involtini di Melanzane" (eggplant rolls), "Sarde a Beccafico" (sardine rolls) and or some famous Cannoli.

Absolutely thrilling! Far from all the clichés, well in the reality of things, our French-speaking guide Chloé was Absolutely adorable! She has been part of the "adio pizzo" association for a long time and is fascinating. To plan Absolutely when coming to Palermo, far from the usual tourist guides. Tremendous ! A very good value for money, 3 hours planned, 4 hours on arrival that we did not see passed!

I always try to travel ethically and was delighted to find this tour. I learned a lot about local history and culture that is extremely important in Palermo and I’m not sure how else I would have been to encounter it otherwise. I really appreciated being able to see Palermo through new eyes and encourage everyone to get to know the city with AddioPizzo.

Great experience it’s always good to be better informed about the place your visiting and a bonus when your guide has a wealth of knowledge that is informative, balanced and engaging. For me something I will not forget in a hurry and it was a pleasure to be well informed by someone who has been living through recent changes and was willing to share her experiences about a topic that is still a very real problem in her home town In her own words there is a long way to go but there is hope through education, changing the population mind set to help eradicate extortion in the future.
