Full description
Enjoy a scenic 2-hour drive into the countryside to Agrigento on this full-day excursion from Palmero. Situated on a plateau overlooking the sea, with the Hypsasand the Akragas rivers nearby and a ridge to the north offering a degree of natural fortification, Agrigento was founded in the 6th century BC by Greek colonists from Gela. The 8-hour excursion includes a short stop for a coffee (not included in the tour price) en route to Agrigento, before arriving at the Valley of the Temples. Visit the Hera, Concordia and Apollo temples and Hardcastle villa, with a guidebook that will provide more information about the sites. You’ll have free time to decide on a place for lunch, before your driver takes you to the Agrigento Archaeology Museum. Great tour of Agrigento - Joshua our driver/guide was fantastic! As a group of 8 we all thought it would be beneficial to have a tour guide at the Valley of the Temples for an additional 15 euros each. Organised smoothly by Joshua - it turned out to be the best idea! We had a brilliant, friendly, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgable Mexican guide who showed us around the amazing UNESCO sites and she made our day! The stop off at Stair of the Turks and our lunch spot on the way back to Palermo were also a lovely bonus. A great day with a great bunch of people :)

I highly recommend this activity. It is so well organized, making it a pleasurable and worry free day. Our driver, Michael, is not only an excellent driver, but also, friendly, polite, has a good sense of humor and knowledgeable about the sites. He engaged the passengers in interesting conversation. This made the time in the car pass quickly. We made a rest stop along the way, where Michael encouraged us to buy a picnic lunch to eat later among the temples. The food we purchased was reasonably priced and delicious. Once arriving at the Temples, Michael showed us where we would meet after our visit and saw us through the ticket booth. We were then free to walk the Valley on our own, with plenty of time to see all the beauty the Valley has to offer at our own pace. It is absolutely spectacular! I could not imagine visiting Sicily without a visit there. After our visit, we walked out the gate to find Michael exactly where he said he would be. It was a truly wonderful day.

A magnificent day!

The drive was long, but so worth it. To see these ancient structures in such excellent condition was an amazing experience. The audio guide was excellent. Joshua, our driver, was superb. He was patient with traffic and made adjustments to get us home more quickly. It was a great day!
